since wright is at middle and ouma was the number 1 dude there, now that roman beat him soundly, woul du considered him the new king of 154 and the man to beat?
Mayorga couldn't scare Tito the way he did with Forrest. When he let Forrest hit him on the chin it discouraged Forrest to see him take the punch. I thought the Mayorga/Forrest rematch was a draw. I had Spinks/Mayorga a draw but with the point deductions I had Spinks winning. If you look closely especially at the replays Spinks misses alot of punches that appear to land. There was one point I think in the 4th round where Mayorga landed a righthand and Spinks came back with about 5 punches that all missed. Even on the replays you can see they clearly missed though Chris Byrd tried to say that they landed.
ive seen the fight and spinks clearly outboxed mayorga, it was a close fight but i had spinks ahead
btw i also had vernon forrest in the second fight with mayorga but i gueess vernon just didnt do enough
EDIT- it was a majority decision not split, no judge had it for mayorga
Vernon did more than enough to win the rematch with mayo..he just didnt bully enough and wasnt a big enough thug for the judges. Oh, and he didnt try and fling mayo all over the ring either. But he definately deserved the win the second time around. Forrest is an outstanding boxer, while Mayo is a street fighter...it all depends on which the judges prefer any given night. Thankfully that crap didnt work with Tito and he got his ass handed to him.
i actually think the ref was bugging mayorga too much and the 12th round knockdown shuld have counted..anyone i think spinks has a longer career than mayo because he;s not gonna retire anytime soon
What Toney fight is that.. (not the Ruiz one)
Spinks clearly outboxing Mayorga and it being a close fight, split descision are contradictary statements. It was a close fight. I thought Mayorga won, and Spinks ass was down good in that fight.
not really, you can outbox someone and still lose in boxing....
see oquendo- byrd
btw check my edited post it was an md not a sd

I had Forrest Mayorga 2 a draw.
To make such a statment I think you have not seen that fight. It was a robbery Mayorga deserved the descision. Do you not forget that Mayorga dropped Spinks ass bad in that fight. The end result was a SD. I had Mayorga ahead by 2 points.

1-spinks didnt dominate...he the non-KD call and the points deductions made that fight able to go anyway.Plus it would be at 154 which spinks would have even a tougher time with a mayorga that doesnt have to kill himself(as much to make weight and handles this one better)
2-i think Mayorga, simms or Ouma will be the last man standing at the end and from these will emerge one.
3-i havent watch fight yet.Was it on Boxeo the oro.(cuz if so i will watch it on hbo latin repeat coming in about an hour. Ayway until i watch fight i will know but i have a q for those who watched it. CAN Ouma take a punch??/cuz i read he was dropped quite easily. Other guys with more power would take him out than most likely.
Yes he can take a punch. The first knockdown was more of him being off balance. The second one caught him on the chin and he fell into the ropes and bounced right back up. He didn't appear to be hurt either time. I think the second one just caught him off guard a little.

True. Still though, Vernos been at the top of that division for awhile now...and hes a tough test for anyone. He's probably a bit past his best now, but two wins over him shouldn't go unnoticed. Plus Ouma has the good wins over Jantuah and Candelo. :dunno:
I think I labled him the king of that division more on his potential to do big things in the division, not so much because his resume was incredible. He's beaten a few good fighters, but no one great.
I just wish Travis Simms was younger.
To be honest as a Simms fan, I agree with you.. if he was just a little bit younger it would be awsome. He got a late start in boxing but is a very young 34. Its time for him to start fighting again I dont understand this inactivty
I think theres a very good reson that 'tremendous' is avoided the way he is. ;)
Defintley there is... give him some big fights and I think he could very well be the King of 154.
not a bad fighter, but hardly a fighter who a 'W' over vaults you to "king"...

Travis Simms, hes been inactive yes but hands down the most underrated fighter at 154. No one gives the guy much of a chance but if you have ever seen him fight hes awsome.

Thanks, i'll be sure to watch them.
i normally try watch as many fights as possible before i say anthing about a fighter but i've seen Ouma about 3/4 times and he doesnt look like he's physically capable of being an elite fighter.
I think he is more than capable, just had a really terrible night with karmazin. anyway, the rematch with candelo was a very good showing for him..if you cant get your hands on it be sure to let me know okay.
You can try Ouma-J.C. Candelo 2, and/or Ouma-Carlos Bojorquez...both were good fights.
Thanks, i'll be sure to watch them.
