i read Michael Katz's article at maxboxing.com where Ouma may have gone into that fight sick. This may be the reason why he wasn't as impressive as we've seen him against Kofi Jantuah.
MORE FOR YOUR $4.99: Kassim Ouma, who was to defend here tonight against Roman Karmazin, appeared fine at the Orleans press conference a couple of days ago. But one of Don King's men - Fuzzy has promotional rights on the Russian - slipped into the 154-pound title-holder's training last Friday and saw Ouma throwing up after the workout. "I think one of his guys had walking pneumonia and gave him a bug," said the spy...It would be Karmazin's only shot against the multitalented Ouma, the 9-2 favorite now promoted by Golden Boy

I'm a huge Ouma fan. He isn't making excuses, so don't make any for him. If you're too sick to fight, you pull out. He didn't, so he wasn't dangerously ill. He lost.
He will still be the future. That performance will not change my mind about that. His only other loss was because he was younger back in 1999. The only other blemish on his record is a no-contest after he tested positive for marijuana. He won that fight originally by 11 round stoppage.
I agree with this. I hope Ouma bounces back and takes over the division. I mean, if not him, then I guess we're going to have to watch Cory Spinks at the top of another division
I'd say Travis Simms but he's not really doing enough right now and hes getting up there in age (isnt he like 36 or something?)
When your in the ring it doesnt matter if ur sick or not. But i wont be suprised if he was sick. Because if you look at the 1st round he wasnt throwing punches like hes used to (even before the other guy hit him with a clean punch) also Kassim looked off balanced all night all his power punches that he threw he was standing on one foot for sum reason.
I think he was probably sick but he thought he was going to win anyways so he didnt say anything.
Maybe he was sick but he obviously wasn't sick enough, otherwise he would have pulled out. Sickness is just something that you have to fight through.
I'll admit that he did indeed look strange to me, but its the second time that hes given a lackluster performance. Two may be a mistake but three is a trend so I'm just wondering how much faith I can invest in him.
You're probably right about people accusing him of ducking RK if he pulled out. Still though I think Kassim could have done A LOT more in that fight. The whole jabbing to the midsection early and throwing 35 punches a round thing really made me look like an ass for saying that he'd get nasty on Taylor, Sturm and Wright... :(

The last time it happened he was younger, clowning around and got caught. Since then he hasn't done anything like that. That report came out a day or two before the fight. Maybe he was sick but he didn't use it as an excuse and went on with the fight. He should of cancelled it but then somebody would come in here saying he is ducking Karmazin.

Excuses are like assholes...everybodys got one and they all stink.
Oumas done this before...where he just didn't show up to fight. It yielded the same results this time as it did that time.
I just hope he brings more to the table next time he fights because I like him as a fighter and think he can still do big things at 154 and 160.

Ouma is an overhyped scrub. Lets leave it at that. I can't believe the guy has fans, he's a nobody.
wow, really ?
Karmazin didn't exactly blow this "nobody" away, either.
So I guess Karmazin's pretty much a stiff himself, huh ?
I am not a fan but not a hater either. However, I hope you are right though 154 needs all of the stars they can get.
Although Karmazin was very entertaining to watch and wouldnt mind seeing him more.
I think Karmazin is a very good fighter and I even enjoyed watching him do what he was supposed to do. I wouldn't mind seeing him again as well. Ouma will beat him in the rematch though.
Just wait he will be back and prove to everyone who is doubting him now. That wasn't Ouma in there. He had many chances but couldn't get going and the times he did Ouma backed Karmazin up and had him holding on.

I doubt it, Ouma is a top guy but Karmazin landed at will and backed him up when he wanted to. Karmazin is a big strong guy it makes me wonder how he made the 154 limit.
It's apparent Ouma cant handle boxers. Karmazin didnt brawl with him but boxed with him. All of his other opposition tried to brawl with him and for the most part he fought nothing but brawlers.

Just wait Ouma will come back and beat Karmazin with ease.

How about Ouma fought shitty because Karmazin landed vicious body punched and made him not throw many punches. He didnt have anything against Karmazin anyways.
Great sig Alpha, is that a young Hamed?

Excuses are tools of incompetence which build monuments to nothing and those who specialize in them can seldom do anything else.
I'm tired of excuses.
Just in the last two days of posting, I've read more than a shitload of posters defending their boys' losses.....with excuses.
You know what ? Ouma's lost twice, & I guess now both losses were aberrations, because he wasn't "right going in" ?
Fine.....then I'm gonna apply that same percentage to his wins. In my eyes, Kassim Ouma's every win was tainted because everyone of his foes was sick, or had something weighing heavily on their minds.
He lost, period.
