I really liked the guy, but why did he fight so infrequently in the last year? Why do people dislike him? Why doesnt he get a big title fight? Hes a paradox to me.

Some people don't like Machito just because he's the son of Hector Camacho. Other people don't like him because he had a lot of potential but hasn't done anything with it. In recent years, he's fought weaker and weaker opposition. But it's hard for him to get a good opponent because no one cares about him anymore. He didn't fight in the last year because of promotional problems.
He's said the down time did him well, though, that it helped him refresh his interest in boxing. Hopefully, it really did. I didn't get to see his last fight. Apparently, even though he was training in Arizona for two months before that fight, he had to put on about seven pounds just before the fight because they gave him a middleweight opponent at the last minute. Hopefully his team will be able to get their act together to get Machito some better matches. If they do that, it will give him another chance to prove himself and maybe win back some of those fans who have given up on him.
We dislike him because he can't fight. He is exactly like his father was AFTER his father fought Edwin Rosario.
Camacho Jr. is lazy in training. His stubby little ass is at 154. 154 and he is only 5'6. PUH-LEEZE.
Omar Weiss kicked his ass. Gloriously.
Jesse James Leija kicked his ass. But got robbed.
