After watching the fight for a second time, it was truly something else. Defintley the best crusierweight fight Ive seen in a while. I disagreed with Ledermans score card through out the whole fight and from listening to him rant felt bad for Jirov so looked for some rounds to score to him. I ended up scoring it 115-113 Toney but I agree with the judges wider gap. Every round Toney outlanded Jirov but was not the agressor (not Toneys style). The best part though was the end interview when Lampley was basically yelling at Toney "James please answer the questions we're on TV!". James was yelling at Chris Byrd for a good ammount of the interview. Overall it was one of the best fights Ive see and I was just wondering does anyone else see the scoring any different?
No, his racist. Flat out but he ain't like a bigot he's just realistic because thats the world we live in.
He make jokes about mexican pickin strawberries and running the border jokes to mexican boxers or tells them if they don't spar with him and they duck him he'll call imigrantion so they have sometihing else to duck. Talks about cotton pick ******s and has a ton of chicken head jokes about black girls or his whigger jokes about enimem wannabe's and makes fun of white people walking around with butt plugs. He has a couple of asian one about calculating numbers to be better boxers that i didn't like but was funny.
I don't think Toney's that racist myself. He just hates phony fighters, and there's nothing wrong with that. I ALMOST hate Byrd and Vitali as much as Toney claims to on the grounds that they are fraud champions. Toney will beat them both if given the opportunity. I guarantee it.
Toney kinda of racist, LoL.
He is one but not a bad one.
He'll make jokes about mexicans blacks, whites, asains, etc.
The man has it out for everyone, no one is safe, even a 3 yr kid isn't. The guy has more smack on him than a Mexican Cartel drug LOrd
One thing i don't like about Toney is he takes his arguements too far.
Sometimes he gets into fights outside of gyms and they get heated. It sometimes flows into the gym and guys say they going to bring more peeps over and throw down and Toney talks about pulling out guns and setting it off. I heard a guy got arrested at Wildcard in a fight or argument with Toney. Toney is straight up ghetto.
The best part though was the end interview when Lampley was basically yelling at Toney "James please answer the questions we're on TV!". James was yelling at Chris Byrd for a good ammount of the interview.
That's Toney's way of saying 'fuck you, lampley' to lampley. He called them fags in a bathroom interview. It's hilarious the way he knows they have to get some kind of response from him, so he manipulates the camera time, just so people who know him in real life laugh their asses off.(and even fans like myself find it funny as well).. I love that guy. It's clear that he's just a little bit racist though,(towards whiteys) but that's okay I really don't blame him one bit..
Man you should have seen his interview with Jim Grey I think his name is? The dorky fucker who interviewed Tyson after Etienne , the 'spinal' interview. Man, he punked that dude out. Grey fucked up by asking him something trying to discredit Evander holyfield i forgot exactly what he said, man toney got furious like he was about to drop grey and grey moved over to the other corner 'we're gonna have a word with evander now' moving away nonchalantly before toney pulled a butler on him.
Still if it's 10-10 tie thats fine but you should keep it consistent 9-9 tie because winner gets a point, tie means no points = 9-9.
Still it should be 110 score with the knockdown because it's a 10-8 round. I'm sorry for poping my collar. I just get pissed when people score fights wrong.
You remember what happen to Pacman. He got robbed because the judge scored it wrong. That is why I take scoring very important. I was a boxer so I take it very seriously. Evertime a fighter gets in the ring he will get a beating and leave a part of himself in that ring. I think the least we can do is score fights correct and fairly. Hardest thing to shallow for a fighter is a bad descision and only worse when someone scores it wrong and you could win!!!
I see alot of scores like the end of the Toney fight and the scoring was stupid. If it's a judge, it's unexcusable. They should get thrown in the ring and let the two guys beat you. 9 rounds to 3 in a close fight is ridic. The person can't even deduct points correctly. Banned that judge 4 life.
The fight wasn't a tie with a knockdown and deduction. People listen to Lederman too much and he's is a moron and should go to a nursing home and stay there. I swear the man gets back to the home and they give him warm milk and cookies before they tuck him into bed and put on a pair of Depends. Geriatric old fart, I wish I could mute him.
He knows nothing about scoring a fight. He looks to see who lands more shots and a occasional powershot. He always thinks the aggressor is winning. Lederman can only score obvious rounds and close ones he is easily fooled because his eyes can't keep up with the fast action. He can't even see when people miss punches or who throws a harder punch because his eyes are older than the Ming dynasty.
For Jirov to win with two points deduction is ridic with an even round because it's an eleven round fight then. You have to win 7-4 and get knocked two points for 5-4 win. That is a 2rounds for everone in a close fight.
I had a tie round, 7 rounds Toney to 4 rounds Jirov and 2 pts deduced for blow and knockdown. 115-110 Toney in a close fight but easy to score fight.
Looks like a close fight but Jirov throws low blow from frustration. after you will see he is less active, punchers are weaker and have less effect on Toney. Body punchs are fewer and he is getting weaker and Toney is getting more aggresive because of that.
Jirov had the point taken away which made the round 10-9 Toney.. then Toney lost the round which made the round 9-9. Jirov won the round but had a point taken away so they tied at 9-9.
I'm talking about the 9th round though. The point deduction came in the 8th round.
I scored the 9th round dead even, a 10-10 round. The 8th round I had 9-9.
I always thought tied rounds are 10 - 10 unless there are deductions.

I'm assuming you had the round where Jirov had the low blow as the tie, but maybe not. If so, that'd be the deduction, the low blow deduction.
If it's not, then yeah, you're right. I don't remember what round that was in, though.
You had Toney winning 7, not 8 rounds, that's where you're messing up. 7-4-1, not 8-4. Your Toney score should be 115.
7x10 = 70. 9x5 = 45 (5 because the tied round is a 9-9). 70+45 = 115.
Jirov at 4-7-1 4x10 = 40 8x9=72 72+40=112-1=111. So, your score should be 115-111, either way, you were a point off, and it was a simple mistake. Nothing to jump on someone's nuts about.
I just saw the fight recently, and it was one hell of a fight. I was damn impressed with Toney's ability to pull that out in the last seconds. It was a close fight, but I didn't score it, so... Had I scored it, I would have given 7 to Toney. He just had the more effective, cleaner shots. Ledderman was plain wrong for giving that to Jirov.
I always thought tied rounds are 10 - 10 unless there are deductions.
I scored the fight 7-4-1 for Toney as far as rounds go. 12 was a 10-8 round, and 8 was a 9-9 round since Jirov won the round, but had a point deducted for the low blows.
I had james winning 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 12
I had Jirov winning 2, 4, 8, 11
The 9th round was a 10-10 draw in my book.
The 8th round was the Jirov point deduction but he won the round.
So...
Toney: 8x10 = 80, 4x9 = 36 - 116 for James
Jirov: 4x10 = 40, 7x9 = 63, 1x8 = 8 - 111 for Jirov
So as I finish up all of that tedious work, my question to you is, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

i thought that the 12th round was one of the most memorable of all time

Doesn't matter who made the fight, Toney looked comfortable the whole fight and Jirov wasn't as effective as his other fights.
Toney looked to counter and was very successful as Jirov was slowly down visibly through and hurt several times. Toney threw to the body just as well as Jirov.
Jirov didn't not land many clean punchs and few clean "HBO power shots" except to the body. Because of the style Toney uses the punchs land on shoulder or his chest and gloves before hitting the face. Takes away the power of the punch.
I still don't agree on the score card. Way off..... You can't get that score for that fight!!
Boxing scoring 101
Max pts in a fight = 120 12x10=120
Jirov Vs. Toney score 117-111
6 point lead is 9 rounds to 3 but thats wrong
Toney's score =117
10x12=120 points total-3=117
Toney gets 9 rounds in a close fight is impossible.
9x10= 90 + (9x3)=117
Jirov's score
10x3=30 + (9x9)= 81+20= 111 - 1 knockdown = 110 The score doesn't even add up right.
Tie round scenario
Toney loses a point and wins 8 rounds
8x10= 80 + (4x9) = 116
Jirov
3x10= 30 + (9x9) = 111- 1KD =110
Jirov wins 4 rounds scenario
4x10= 40 + (8x9) = 112 -1kd =111
Toney gets 8x10= 80 + (4x9) = 116 and 115 if they tie a round
People really need to learn how to add score cards. How can you be a judge and not know how to score rounds
oldgringo quote
"6-4-1 going into the 12th, and 7-4-1 with the KD when all was said and done. "
That doesn't add up moron.
it's 7-3-1 because of the knock down you lose a point so Toney wins by 4 points. Learn how to add rounds before you post how you score a fight. To think you watch it 10 times and didn't see your GLARRING mistake. I saw it in a split second.

yea,
still hes a fuckin basketball player and hes no match for a doctor.. :)
dr brandt, taking care of idiots since september `39.. :D
Who's a basketball player?
It was a close fight in that there were close rounds, but Toney was winning the rounds, and that's the only thing that matters in boxing. I had it 8 rounds to 4, 116-111 with the knockdown. Toney by clear, hard fought decision
Correct way to score
Toney
8x10 + (4x9) = 116
Jirov
4x10 + (8x9) = 112 - 1 KD = 111 !!
I had the fight very close and thought the 117-111 card was out of line.
Toney certainly won that fight but it was Jirov who made that fight!

Fight was close despite the knockdown, and it showed why Toney is about as durable an S.O.B. as you will find in boxing.
....Scores were defintely too wide but that last round won it for Toney in my book. Without that 12th round dominance due to the KD I would have probably had it as a draw as well. Toney did impress me because I thought Jirov was making him work so hard that he was running out of gas and was gonna be in trouble. Toney is a skilled fool for sure.

Like many of you said, I had the fight really close. Judges were basically dismissing Jirov's body punching efforts. Especially when he stunned Toney. I had the fight 7 rounds to 5 in favor of Toney, and without the knockdown it would have came out even at a draw. When I watched it the second time, I noticed how many punches Jirov landed downstairs, then upstairs. He landed alot of good hook shots on Toney's chin.....but then again, it was hard to tell because Toney has a great chin. Toney landed the better shots though, and fought a mediocre fight compared to what he is capable of. That was not Toney's true best, and I think was Jirov's.
Toney won the fight because of his accurate punching, and effective agressivness. Jirov put up a hell of a fight, but he was unfortunate to have been knocked down late.
