What does going to America have to do with anything? Why do Americans believe that European fighters won't be able to do anything once they get to the States? How's about Vitali Klitscko? Naseem Hamed (he fought and won in the States a number of times, and the fight with Barrera was closer than everyone thinks)? Lloyd Honeghan? Steve Collins? Jean Marc Mormeck? Robin Reid is going over to America to fight Lacey. Lennox Lewis? These are just a handful of European fighters that have been over to the States and proved themselves. Soon you will be able to add Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe to that list. But what does it matter if you are fighting in Britain anyway? A win over someone like Kostya Tszyu or Gerald Mclellan is as good in Europe as it is anywhere else. The ref in the Mclellan fight was French, and this was down to WBC stupidity and hindered both fighters as neither spoke French. My main point is that it is who you fight and beat that matters, not where you fight. You can get a helping hand from the ref's and judges, but it would be the same for an American fighter fighting in the States.
My standpoint on the issue of the thread:
It doesn't have to do with America having the best fighters, but more of our exposure. We're America, we've got the largest media outlets to get lots of exposure all over the world. Also, when you add in the fact that all fighters from Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, etc will usually move to the US to do all of their fights it just makes it like a second home to them for fighting.
Guys like Benn and Eubank would not of made anywhere near as much money in America as they did in Britain. They are the two greatest British boxers ever by the way, by a distance, guys like Lewis and Hamed looked upto them a lot.
Naz/Lennox probably only looked upto Eubank/Benn around 1990/91/92,Im sure Eubank and Benn looked upto Lennox alot 99/2000/01/02/03 ;)
i think benn shaded it but it was close, and fuck lewis i always hated him lol but yeh he did deserve the nod, but then holy got shafted in the rematch
I actualy think Benn won that fight even with the point taken away, it shouldnt of been a draw man Benn won it, Oconnell was right to take a point off Benn for the lowblow but i remember Eubs using some dirty tactics too (at one point he actualy kicked benn in the back of the head) and Eubs hit Nige with a lowblow at one point too altho all in all a draw was fair enough and Oconnell did a good job. But as for the Holyfield v Lewis match, Lewis was robbed.
Yeh but he was sayin that Oconnell didnt take enoughpoints off and that he felt four low blows, and also says Nige should of been taken a point away for "persistent rabbit punching" and another point for a "cheap shot after Kings boy said break", in the interview Eubs said that all in all he feels that Nige should of had "ATLEAST" six points taken away ! Lol,!
Chris Eubank for example has made over £20,000,000 which I think is something like $35,000,000+. Had he stayed in America, he'd of made nowhere near that ammount 15 years ago. When Eubank was invited to Madison Square Garden to radio commentate on the fight between Holyfield and his good friend Lennox Lewis (15 years to TO THE DAY that Eubank won the NYC Golden Gloves at Madison Square Garden) he said afterwards "It's a travesty of justice. I'm nearly in tears. Larry O'Connell is the one that has to answer because this fight wasn't a draw, or his Yankee paymasters will have to answer. Saying that might get me into trouble but I don't care, this is America. I will say it publicly. This has messed up my four days in New York. What is wrong with this country? Can they not accept that Great Britain consists of a few world class boxers too? Let's just say that I'm glad that I couldn't get a good enough deal to come here when I was fighting."
Lol this is just a personal grudge between Eubanks against larry Oconnell and Don King if u remember Eubanks complaint to the World boxing council in 93. After Eubanks and Benn drew in their unification in 93 ,,Eubanks sent a letter complainin to the World boxing council that Larry Oconnell the referee for that fight purposely wasnt taking points away from Nigel Benn for lowblows, rabbit punches and punchin after break commands and said that Don King had paid Oconnell because he wanted to match Benn with Nunn
being english i can admit that the best boxers come from the us, but us british produce some world class fighters also.the reason american boxers are better is because they have better facilitys better opportunitys which leads to better experience, skills not necessarily better boxing brains.
I couldn't agree more, same reason Cuba puts out quality fighters, they're dedicated to it lol
I mean they as a country

i think world class fighters should go everywhere in the world, i can understand why alot say you have to come to the US but i can also see why some european and british fighters never did, money talks, juy gave a good example about eubanks earnings, hatton vs zoo is another, i think good euro fighters should go to the us but then i also think good us fighters should fight in europe too, to me a ring is a ring and its always nice to travel :D

all B.S.aside the money is here and we have cable T.V. unlike half of the world they don't call it the british bream or russain dream or french dream they call it the American dream and It is what it is no pun intended to any other countries but that is just the cold hearted truth.

some things are just the way they are.............
muslims go to mecca to prove themselves
jews go to israel
bla bla bla
boxers must go to the states...........that's it!
uk is not really eurapian<( see i cant even spell it)and the judging her is just as fair as in the US who rembmers dlh v. that sturm guy as a example harsh decision so there is bias everywhere
i think the uk is alot more out on its own, we dont have euros and hopefully neva will, and we hate the fucking french who we just beat to the 2021 olympics lol
Where too??
I'm thinking about the philippines, Australia or even the US(for the value of my house i could get something really nice abroad now).
I think OZ is my most likely destination.
My bro spent a couple of months in the Philippines when he was travelling, he absolutely loved it. It'd be Thailand for me.
