He began on the PPV (Pay Per View) system on his last fight with Arturo Gatti with a great performance.
How well he would do on future fights with this system? Will me make enough money only with his name, or will he need names like in his first PPV fight?
Does the great performance against Gatti helps more than other factors? I think if he stops being arrogant he would do very well on PPV, more than great performances.
I don't want to be a boxing snob.....but.... its a real shame thats the way PPV works, your right to say they are only really interested in knock out merchants or brawlers. I love watching Mayweather - the guy has real talent.
It seems like the only people who draw huge PPV sales are either brawlers or knockout machines. Floyd is neither, so i really don't think he'll be pulling in huge numbers anytime soon.
Floyd would be a good PPV draw just b/c of his physical abilities but obviously he can't be like Tyson and get put into the ring with tomato cans and call it PPV. He sold the Gatti fight with trashtalking and using Gatti's fame to generate buys. Now everyone knows how good he is that he'll need some competition to sell PPV(which is the way it should be).
I agree but there is a big list of oppenents that he could fight that would draw. (Cotto, Judah, maybe Hatton) And he also gained new fans after his last fight and i think he will continue to do so.
The only way he is ever successful in the PPV fight game, is if his oppenent is some super-star who could beat him or atleast put up a good match. Or if his oppenent is a fan favorite.
Other than those routes, he doesn't have a snow ball's chance in hell.
