It seems that a deal has been struck and Lamon Brewster will defend his WBO Heavyweight Title against mandatory contender Luan Krasniqi in Germany.
This fight will be held on Wednesday the 28th of September 2005. It does sound weird being on a wednesday, but this date coincides with what would have been Max Schmeling's 100th birthday (had he not died earlier this year). It is guaranteed to be one of the biggest shows in European History.
This could be a risky fight for Brewster as the Germans are renowned for controversial decisions and appear to do their utmost to make sure their fighter wins.
if a German fighter fights in Germany he is a threat to anyone.......and if it is for a title, an even more of a threat.....haven't you ever heard of what shit goes on over there?!!
I meant a threat to hurt him, I could easily see Lamon going all out and knocking him out in the late rounds.
I watched bits and pieces but I guess I was wrong in that and I should have watched the whole thing. I have never really even heard of Krasniqi nor of Whitaker until I see their mugs on a banner over at Fight News. So I did a little research to see how the fight would be. Krasniqi is not a big threat for a fighter like Lamon although he will be a challenge but not a threat.

you are joking right.........or you haven't seen the fight..........or you are a serious whitaker nuthugger.........
every single article on the fight stated that krasniqi dominated whitaker and didn't let him have any rhythm......every single poster here mentioned the same thing......
for those who didn't see the fight.....Krasniqi dominated and tied Whitaker up wisely and was too fast for Whitaker........
I am no Krasniqi nuthugger either, but it pays to mention that Krasniqi has amateur victories over both Klitschkos and Brewster.....

Krasniqi knocked out Whitaker with a nice punch but he wasnt dominating up to that point. He is a strong fighter who will give Lamon some good rounds.

Brewster will beat this guy most likely, i have a hard believing that the fight will be on wednesday, surely I dont think any newtoworks will show it on that date?
pretty uneven, I guess
C'mon, let's be honest here. It wasn't THAT uneven.
After beating Virgil Hill, DM held:
WBA Light Heavyweight Title
WBO Light Heavyweight Title
IBF Light Heavyweight Title
He was stripped by the WBA and IBF as a penalty for displaying the WBO belt alongside the others. He never lost those titles in the ring. Jones picked up those titles by beating the B level fighters who picked up the vacant titles after the WBA and IBF shamelessly stripped DM.
MOST IMPORTANTLY,
DM held the LINEAL light-heavyweight title, which Jones never held. He was recognized as the real champ by many if not most observers.
pretty uneven, I guess
In a sense, but take away the IBA/IBO/WBF and whatever else Jones held the WBA/WBC/IBF the main three and had the rights to fight on his own turf. If Dariusz wanted the fight so bad he could have easily came to the U.S. but Jones never cared for him to begin with.
Jones held
WBC Light Heavyweight Title
WBA Light Heavyweight Title
IBF Light Heavyweight Title
IBO Light Heavyweight Title
WBF Light Heavyweight Title
IBA Light Heavyweight Title
NBA Light Heavyweight Title
Dariusz held
WBO Light Heavyweight Title
pretty uneven, I guess
DM and Jones were both belt holders, right?
Jones held
WBC Light Heavyweight Title
WBA Light Heavyweight Title
IBF Light Heavyweight Title
IBO Light Heavyweight Title
WBF Light Heavyweight Title
IBA Light Heavyweight Title
NBA Light Heavyweight Title
Dariusz held
WBO Light Heavyweight Title
It should also be noted, Jones shits on the WBO organization. Well did much so in the past dont know about now though.
Of course. It would have been an economically sound decision for Vivian Harris to go to England to fight Hatton or for Jones to go to Germany to face DM.
Jones said he would never fight out of the U.S. and when an offer was made to Jones to fight him he declined with that. Well Jones team came back later and offered DM an offer to fight in the U.S. at an equal fighting field with judges from other countries except each others and DM backed away and never made a comment on it.
That fight works both ways, neither fighter really had intentions on wanting to fight each other. If you shit on Jones than you have to shit on Dariusz than as well.

Yes. Harris was stupid for not taking the fight (look at him now), and so was Jones, I believe.

Wow, what a concept: A heavyweight title holder who is willing to fight his mandatory challenger AND travel!
It is an economically sound decision in this case.
Thats what the heavyweight division needs is activity. Nobody wants to fight not even low caliber opponents.
Vitali was looking great fighting Lewis,Sanders,Johnson he was active and fought a good bit. Now none of the champs have solid fights planned.
I hope Vitali gets back on a good schedule and gives us another 5-6 great fights.
Wlad looks very interesting, whether he wins or looses.
Brewster is a mistery man.
Toney is spectacular.
Byrd is fun to watch. I hope he fights Toney or Wlad.
Who else is there?
Sam Peters fights people who can't punch.
Ruiz fights like Ruiz.
Brock looks moderately interesting.
Valuev is a very tall boxer.
Rahman pounches hard, but is not that interesting technically.
K. Johnson seemed good technically, but is done, I think.
There also is Povetkin, Olympic gold medalist, who has just turned pro, but it will be 3-4 years before he can fight for the championship belt.
Wow, what a concept: A heavyweight title holder who is willing to fight his mandatory challenger AND travel! Who does he think he is? Ali? Prime Tyson? This is 2005, Brewster. Heavyweights don't do this kind of thing.
Somebody tell Vitali (who will by September have gone over a year and half without fighting even one mandatory defense!) to start taking notes.
Well, now we have at least one HW belt holder who is active.
