Quartey looked like an B+ fighter in his last outing. De la hoya hasnt looked good since the Mosley fight, but I still believe he has enough to beat Quartey. Quartey might be strong but he isnt as active as he use to be. De la hoya slowed a bit sure but I predict De la hoya decision him decisevly.
I'd be suprised to hear that too. That fight was definently a robbery though. Oscar should have just kept his mouth shut instead of the whole "launching an investigation" thing.
for sure...it only made him look like a sore loser, at best
WOW! I cant believe he said that!! What a trip  I never would have expected that of him...not in this lifetime anyway. If he truly believes that then I dont see him EVER getting back in there with Shane. What surpises me the most about that comment is the 'investigation' he wanted done after their rematch..like I said, what a trip!!

he is a franchise all by himself, so he probably doesn't need to say the right things becuase his fights are the biggest draw regardless of opponents
aint that the truth! I remember reading yrs ago that he was the biggest "non heavy wt" draw in the sport, which is real impressive

I thout Shane won the first one and Oscar won the second.
I heard Oscar say on a radio show that Mosley has his number and he wouldn't fight him again...thats a new angle for a fighter to take.

DLH-Quartey was indeed a robbery. Quartey dominated the fight, got careless in the end, but he's done enough to win. I dont know how the judges came up with the score. you dont score a match with a single round. its like they saw it coming or maybe they used some correction fluid. if they fight now, as a Quartey fan, id like DLH to get beat.
I heard that Ike was struggling against Verno Phillips in his last fight, didnt see it. Who wins? Ike or Oscar?
Vargas and Quartey are about the only fights Oscar would win out of the recent mentioned
you guys actually thought Oscar won the first one??? Wow, I didnt think so..it was close (115-113 on my card) but definately a win for shane
Yep but I doubt DLH will fight again...
yeah, I cant figure him out..not to change the subject (going to anyway :D ) he's behind on his Latino boxing while he's not boxing too  Far as I know, there wont be another new latino night til the 16th :(
Ike almost got KO in his last fight against Vernon, He's not the same fighter...I really doubt that Oscar will fight again and if he fights he should fight against someone he lost b4 like Shane or Tito...
definately... shane vs. oscar 3 would be a big ticket seller, for all the DLH fans wanting to see him beat shane.
I don't know why people are taking this negative tone with Ikes win over Verno. That was a very good win for a guy whos in his second fight back from a 5 year layoff.
Verno was a champ at 154 and is always around the top of that division. Hes a tough vet who took guys like Kassim Ouma to the brink.
Ike has a lot of ring rust but in those middle rounds he looked like his old self...and he's always been open to left hooks so nobody should have been surprised that Verno dropped him.
Quartey would beat Oscar now.
I'm not necessairly neg. about it..especially if money is all it's about for Ike, cause Oscar is where it's at when it comes to that. If he's looking to improve on his record/career, thats another matter. I agree that Verno is one tough bugger..absolutely, but he's no DLH, and I'm not even a DLH fan! If it's about more than just the money, maybe another warm up fight or two before squaring off with Oscar?? Anyway, I wonder if Oscar would fight him again?? that would be interesting to find out really.

De La Hoya and Quartey are so Last decade. De La Hoya has lost like 4 of his last 6 bouts. Quartey took quite a beating and was dropped good by Phillips. Screw this mathup.
De La Hoya retire
Quartey: rematch Phillips
Whoe doesnt want to fight De LA Hoya .
His name and the money it brings is just about all De La Hoya brings to the table .
I think he is a over the hill bum.
this is true...money is all DLH has anymore, so if Ike is just looking for a really good payday, Oscar would definately be the one to take on. But, does winning a close fight with phillips necessairly mean he's ready for DLH, who has atleast been active over the yr's that Ike's been away??
Yeah, I was hesitant to call it robbery because it was such a close fight and I guess I can see how other people scored it differently. I've just scored it so many times and have come out with 114-113 Quartey so many times that I personally have that locked in my head.
I think I just called it a robbery because DLH was a cunt and never gave Ike a rematch.
LOL. Gotcha, I know what you mean. I did the same thing in the Oscar/Shane rematch.
I think their first fight was very close, and Oscar almost had Ike out of it in the 12th. I think that was the deciding factor. I'd like to see them fight again.
