What does everyone think of the chances of this one going off? Thing is Mosley to some might seem to be way too much of a test for Gatti at this point but he wasn't all that impressive in his first fight back at welter, which either means he's lost a step or at the very least it looks like he's lost a step, which would make him a more tempting target for Gatti's people.
I could see Mosley wanting to take this one as a tune-up for a title shot, and Gatti certainly doesn't back down from any challenges, and is probably looking to get at least one good payday before calling it quits. Just seems to me that when you work in all those factors this one has a chance of happening.
if it did happen...Mosley's performance would be heavily compared to Floyd's...and his future may depend on how well he performs in comparison to Floyd and DLH
Another good point. Shane hasn't been able to "deliver" what was expected of him since 2003. Is it just because Winky Wright is "so much better"?
fighting Wright and fighting Gatti are two completly differnt things. Mosley would easily defeat Gatti by decison, if not on cuts or swelling late.
Wright is a big 154 and now Middleweight. Gatti is a very small 147 if he fights there.
I agree.. I think mosley is underrated. He has been doing bad lately because he rematched immediately forrest and winky. He did very well against winky in the rematch and it was a very close fight.
Exactly - not only do they present the kind of style problems that Gatti does not - in both rematches Shane was a lot closer and looked to have learned a bit. I don't think he's shot at all - the Wright rematch was close and that was against a bigger man and a P4P fighter. Mosley beats Gatti easy. I know he wasn't great against Estrada - but it looked more like he was trying new things rather than looking to go to work on him - plus it was his first fight back after a series of world title fights - so maybe motivation was a factor
mosley just has problems with people that are TALL and can box. Gatti isnt the tallest and can box but not like winky dlh and forrest
Hey what's up. You gotta post more fight clubs up man. those are awesome
this fight would be Mayweather-Gatti all over again. Shane is way too fast for Gatti and has tons of skill. He just stepped up too many weight divisions and he paid for it.
I didn't even read but 3 or 4 posts on this thread. Shane Mosely would absolutely destroy Arturo Gatti. Shane Mosely is not done or shot by any means right now. He's past his best yes, but he can still beat a lot of guys out there right now, and he would absolutely merc the extremely overrated Gatti. there is not 1 thing that Gatti does better than Mosely, Shane would KO him in 5 or less.
All of that being said, it'd be a good fight for Mosely to take because it'd be a big money fight, it'd be a name, and it'd help him set up a shot against Judah or Margarito at 147.
Gatti should retire. The guy really can't improve his standing from here. He's obtained legendary status from his style and epic battles and parlayed that into a title and some big fights. I don't want to see him screw that up. He never was an A-caliber fighter.
Mosely will dstroy Gatti, they are on completely different levels...Gatti should fight in Atlantic City against C level guys and then maybe build up to a fight with another paper champo and then get out...there is still money to be made for thunder as long as Pat Lynch matches him up right, but...Avoid Shane-There is no way Gatti beats Mosely.

Regardless of the outcome I think Gatti is going to be looking for somebody worthwhile when he moves up. I mean, how many fights does he have left in him? Zab and Margarito are out of the question, and Shane at the moment looks beatable...of course whether or not he actually is that beatable is open to debate.

Hard to say...he looked terrible in his first fight at welter, yet a lot of people still seem to believe in him. I guess it will take another fight to know for sure, but it starting to seem like suicide to come back down in weight when you get to be too old...just ask Roy Jones.
I could see Gatti winning this and then everyone talking about his next great comeback.

I think it had to do with the fact Shane can't beat Wright and Forrest south paw styles but I think he is shot now. I think alot go drained out of Shane over last couple and he doesn't have much left.
I think Gatti wins, Gatti was doing well before he faught Floyd. Shane hasn't done well since 2003...if that.

I could see Shane taking the fight because he needs a couple more fights at welter before facing the big guys. IMO Gatti should retire though.
Bro, I think Sugar Shane- Gatti is going to be a good fight. IMO it might be too "early" for Gatti to retire. ( ignoring his age)
