Alot of upsets and shakeups within the top 5. So, who do you list as your top 10 lb 4 lb?
I don't list guys coming off losses in the top 10. That is my rule.
1 - Floyd Mayweather
2 - Bernard Hopkins
3 - Diego Corrales
4 - Marco Antonio Barrera
5 - James Toney (He beat John Ruiz no 2 ways about it)
6 - Winky Wright
7 - Erik Morales
8 - Antonio Tarver
9 - Ricky Hatton
10 - Rafael Marquez
I have a very deserving question for y'all.
If Castillo would have been given the right decision on the Mayweather fight where would he be P4P before the Corrales lose?
Where would PBF be?
How after the lose to Corrales?
Where would Corrales be?
What would be your list without protected fighters on the list.If Castillo would have gotten the disision over Mayweather, I guess he would be 2nd after Hopkins...
Mayweather would probably still be on the list, but ranked about 7-8
After Castillo loss to Corrales he would become 7-8, Corrales would be in the top 3-5 (just because he lost to Mayweather before)
Like I said everyone's lists differ but at least
Hopkins
Mayweather
Wright
Barrera
Morales
are on all of them.. So I'd say: here is your top 5... and the rest, suit it to your own imagination :-)
Then we have: Corrales, Pacquiao, Marquez, Castillo, Judah, Tarver, Toney, Hatton (in no particular order)
Prospects: Cotto, Taylor, Brewster, Brock, Ouma, Harris
A lot of great fighters out there today, why are we complaining that a lot of the divisions suck?
Agreed upon...I don't see the need for bitching either. There have been a lot of great fights already this year and there are many intruiging weight divisions that are very up for grabs.

will someone please answer this question.

Listen, (Oldgringo, Knives)
We all have our favorites and unconsciously place them higher then deserved... This is why we could go at it all day and it still won't get us anywhere..
But you show me one legit list from any credible website that has Corrales and Toney in their top 5 P4P.
True...but I was just making the argument for the sake of making the argument. I can see Toney anywhere from 10-15 depending on criteria, and I can see Corrales anywhere from 4-8 as well. I personally have James at 10 and I have Corrales at 6 I believe. I think my arguments are legit for those rankings. :dunno:
Sorry for the noobish question - but real quick. What exactly does it mean to be the best "pound for pound" fighter? I remember seeing a rapper say eminem was the best "pound per pound" rapper, what does this expression generally mean?
Means to be the best of his class..

8. Zab Judah
9. Jose Luis Castillo

Good list
Toney is no where near a top 5 and would not be above Winky, Hatton,
Compare and Contrast the level of opposition faced, and victorious over. I think I might give the slight edge to James Toney times one hundred, regarding Hatton.

Come on man, Corrales ranked at #3
He was knocked down how many times? And his win was so controversial..
Also someone who lost by a KO 4 fights ago and another 5 fights before that.
Fine top 10 but not ranked as #3
Toney - Any of those were even close to be anywhere on top 10 P4P when Toney beat them? (Jirov Holyfield, Booker)
Ruiz was a NO CONTEST and cannot be taken into consideration
Toney is no where near a top 5 and would not be above Winky, Hatton, and Tarver.. He doesn't even have any belts LOL
Corrales has 3 very impressive wins in his last 3 fights...that covers the what have you done for me lately part. He's only fought and lost twice to top competition. He's a 2 division champ and has put together an impressive resume. That covers the career aspect. He just KOed (not in the greatest fashion but give me a break with the nitpicking) maybe the toughest fighter in boxing who was riding a great streak at the time. It can certainly be argued that he could be seen as p4p #3.
Toney hasn't lost since '97, he's a 3 division champ who could have been (could still be) a 4 div champ if not for the stupid roids. His past career doesn't require any arguing with wins over McCallum x2, Nunn, Barkley, etc. His what have you done for me lately resume includes reviving his career against a top 20 p4p guy in Cruiserweight King Vassiliy Jirov, Holyfield, and a decisive beating of John Ruiz (there are two stances to take on the Ruiz fight...and even though it's a no contest, everyone knows what happened in the ring). The fact that a former middleweight is beating heavyweights is impressive enough...just think about Hopkins or Taylor trying to move up and beat John Ruiz...it probably wouldn't happen. You could make a case for Toney being ranked highly on the p4p list too.
Corrales -
Last 3
W12 Casamayor, KO10 Freitas, KO10 Castillo.
Toney -
W12 Jirov, TKO10 Holyfield, UD12 Booker, UD12 Ruiz.
Last 3 wins were dominant wins over heavyweights when Toney's prime weight was 160. He keeps winning. I feel he deserves it.Come on man, Corrales ranked at #3
