If the fight is available to be made, and he chooses to fight Maskiev instead, he's ducking James Toney. There is no reason a WBC title holder should be fighting 3 opponenets in a row the callibur of Sanders, Williams, and Maskiev. Toney is available, the Maskiev fight isn't signed, and Vitali would stand to gain a lot of respect and money in beating Toney.He should fight Toney but he offered him 65-35 Toney didint wanan bite so if the fight doesnt happen how is it Klitschko fault? Lets go over it for a 4th time: - Planning to fight Maskiev shows he's planning on taking a fight before the mandatory defense - Toney has accepted the split, and Vitali would stand to make several million more fighting Toney than he would fighting Maskiev, AND for the 1st time since losing to Lewis, Vitali would have an opportunity to face a credible opponent. - Finkle said the WBC would most likely sanction the fight - All the other nut huggers agree if the Toney fight is an option, he should take the challenge (and not go after a 3rd consecutive weak fight vs Maskiev) Yet for whatever reason, you seem to be the only one who thinks its a bad idea and the only one trying to make excuses for why he shouldn't take the fight. It's a good money fight, and a credible opponent. Admit it, if the money is right, he should take the fight.

Interesting... incidentally, Maskaev was originally scheduled to be Danny Williams's first opponent after Tyson, which should have given an indication of whether Williams could mix it at a lower contender level and potentially take on the likes of Ruiz. However, it was abandoned after they got a chance at big money with Vitali. So Vitali's basically setting up a match with someone who was regarded as a "risky but acceptable" option for a man who he effortlessly outclassed in eight rounds. Having said all that... by the time this fight gets around Vitali will have been out of the ring for the best part of a year, following injuries. Toney came off some serious injuries to fight Ruiz for a title on short notice. Stop making excuses for him. Rahman and Barrett are fighting in August, Klitschko wants to fight in September. I will be very disapointed if Vitali and Toney can not come together and make this fight. It could be a needed boost to the Heavyweight division, Either fighter will be a sold ring mag #1 with a win, and both will be well paid.
