Sometimes when people talk about that fight it seems as though the cut wasn't an issue, now i'm not trying to reopen old wounds but a cut like that warrants the fight being won in the same way as a knockout or points decision.
the fact that klitschko was ahead means nothing if his face was in that state, and i seem to have heard of a certain henry cooper knocking down ali only for the fight to be later stoped on cuts.
The thing that gets me about this situation is the fact that some people still don't regard this as a legitimite win for lewis, the fact that klistchko was winning the fight is clear, but i still think to this day that that decision was far, albeit disapointing because it stopped an exciting fight.
getting cut is a weakness just like all the other weakneses, like stamina problems, weak chin etc, and lewis exposed that in that fight, and who's to say he wouldn't have done the exact same thing again in a rematch?
yeah i would agree with that
lewis didn't rematch klitschko because he knew he was at an age where he was only going to go downhill, he knew the risks by fighting again, he seen what happened to ali and other great fighters, klitschko just came around at the wrong time for lewis,if he had of met lewis two or three years previous then of course lewis would of rematched him. but an older lewis still managed to beat klitschko, while at the same time realizing that it was time to retire because the younger klitschko where catching up with him IMO.
i would agree with that, Lewis did bug me with an independent doctor to certify klitschko's eye was ok to fight and then he still never fought him?
Lewis retired ONLY after VK had seen his own doctor who said he was fine, and then saw Lewis' doctor, and HE said VK was fine. Lewis retired ONLY after he was out of excuses and the sanctioning bodies wouldn't let him fight Tyson or Rahman again for another quick payday. To me, that says it all about "The Lion's" character, at least at that stage of his career.

Paul kudos to you and your posts! ;)

i stop at page 32.. this is a great thread.. any guess why ll wont fight vitali for 30mil? i mean thats a lot of money for anyone.. how many mills do ll have?.. my guess is around 200-300mills and 30mills is like 1/10.. damm he really had reason to retard... too old?,..
I don't care who's a fan, only a fanatic. And this fourm is full of them.
I find Vitali to be large, akward, plodding, and relativly unproven with a weak resume.
When I hear people who can't accept his losses as being real, or acting like he's an undisputed champion, I take issue with it.
Back to the 'if' game again...
IF he fought all 3 of them, I think Ruiz is the only fighter I could see being a near certian win.
Say whatever you want about Klistchko I am not really of a fan of him anyway. But in my opinion he is the best fighter currently in the heavyweight divison by quite a wide margin. And he is also an entertaining fighter with a high knockout percentage.
I do dislike that he is inactive as a fighter for the most part. But he does the have the back injury.
Does the fact that the division is at one of the worst points in it's exsistance make Vitali a better fighter? Does it make him any less over hyped? Does it makes his resume any better?
No, it doesn't.
What a useless question.
He's one of FOUR title holders at the moemnt. And just like a classic nut hugger, you act as thought the fact you 'think' he'd beat every other top active fighter today means he should be regarded as though he already has.
Come off it. You're just jumping subjects now.
I am not even really a fan of Vitali Klistchko. I just think you give him less respect that he actually deserves. He is the #1 fighter in what is historically the most highly regarded weight class in boxing and you ridiculously act like a person is wrong for being a fan of him. If you are not going to be a fan of Klistcko in the heavyweight divison, who else are going to root for? John Ruiz, Chris Byrd, Sam Peter, Lamon Brewster?
Why should anybody be a fan of Byrd. The guy lies constantly, he got gift descisons against Golota and against Oquendo, he barely made it passed McCline. Ruiz well is Ruiz. Lamon Brewster is probably second best heavyweight behind Vitali and 80% of people's opinions he is far below the level of Vitali.
You blame Vitali for poor level of opposition but it is known fact Don King wont let his title holders fight Vitali Klistchko.
okay more questions mr bozo.
how do you think the outcome would be if VK fought byrd(rematch), ruiz and Brewster????

Well there is some credibility to him obviously. Because you were not able to answer my question. Who would Vitali Klistchko be favored to lose against by betting money and by the boxing press. Can you name a single fighter. I dont think you can.

ok, youre off the hook..
still ive heard panzergirl is mad at you for stealing her avatar..
didnt steal it, kinda inherited it, the avatar is still hold by a norwegian.
ikke fortell meg at du er den jeg tror du er.
I don't hate on Klitschko. I state my opinion about how over rated he is based on what he's actually acomplished so far vs all the hype surrounding him.
I really don't care what you think of Zab Judah, Mike Tyson, or anyone else. If you don't like the press they get, go talk about it somewhere else with someone else.
All of this talk about who's over rated coming from a Golota worshiper.

that was the worst cut ive ever seen in any fight, be it boxing, UFC, or anywhere else. like i said, ive seen punch cuts, and ive seen headbutt cuts, and there is no punch in history that could have caused a cut like the one on vitali klitschko's face.
Hey buddy, maybe you need to actually SEE the fight again. The cut was caused by a clean punch. It was further opened by punches, and a slight clash of heads.
Lewis looked slow and sluggish, but he cut up his opponent enough to squeek out a legit victory.
You hate on people simply because they are fans of the #1 heavyweight in the world right now Vitali Klistchko. Which is ridiculous. There many more overrated fighters out there then Vitali Klistchko. Like I mentioned Mike Tyson, Zab Judah, and others. Why should people not be fans of Vitali Klistchko, name a heavyweight out there who would be the favorite to beat him at this point. Zab Judah on the other hand I can name 10 guys who he would favored to lose against. Like against Margarito, Mosely, Hatton, Tzyu, Harris, Gatti, De La Hoya.

1. Your big problem with this topic stems from Golota's embarassing KO loss to Lewis.
2. You're compairing proven (in Jones case Hall of Fame) undisputed champions with a guy who's biggest career wins are over Kirk Johnson and Larry Donald.
You asked why I knock the Klitschko hype, and I answered you. Like the nuthuggers, you call me hater. Like I ask the nuthuggers, show me something 'hateful' I've said about Vitali.
Repeating my opinion about how he's over hyped and only mildly accomplished in the face of all the fanaticism is not hateful. It only inspires hate in the minds of the jock sniffers who don't like their parade rained on.

ach!
the wheelchair mates, why dont you make it public?
and leff, shouldent you be at school in oslo now, learning something about your dysleksick spelling? :D
school is off because off exams, and the fact that im in oslo explains why my english grammar is rusty.
Jones ducked all the best fighters in every single weight class he was in. Zab Judah's list of quality wins is very weak. He lost to Cory Spinks. He got TKO 2 by Tzyu. His best win is against Cory Spinks, but so many on here talk of him as some kind of boxing demi-god when in reality he just walked into the welterweight division at a time when it was very weak. He is still very unprooven against top calibern opposition.
