The Fight Was Close But I Thought Kd Won The Fight By 1 Point. Was It Me Or Did Cassamayor Look Like He Shocked By Kd's Power?
Diamond was landing the cleaner and harder shots and Casamayor moved back too much and was rocked a couple times, he also fought a little dirty because he knew he wasnt doing enough to secure the win. I feel Diamond was robbed slightly, but the fight was good and entertaining.
I felt that kid diamond took the early rounds and casamayor finished very strong and took a close decision
Yeah I had him winning that first round big, and then I had him winning like 4, 6, 10, 11 somewhat comfortably, and 12 just by a slight margin.
I felt he took the lead in 10 and 11 and neither guy really did too much outside of Casa landing that monster left hand when KD's foot was caught in the ringside camera. Casa landed a couple of good jabs and lefts while KD landed some good hooks and little right hands. Basically I had it even 6-6 with neither guy being overly impressive but Casamayor eeking out the win as a result of the knockdown.
the fight was close, it was not a robbery
Exactly. I don't understand how people say, "it was a CLOSE fight, but KD was ROBBED". That makes people sound stupid.
I guess Merchant and Lederman got a hold of peoples outlooks on the fight because Casamayor won at least 6 rounds and at least 2-3 with his jab and body punching alone.
I had it 6 rounds each with Cassamayor getting a 10-8 round in the 1st.
Bottom line is it was a close fight. Shame on those of you who come in here hissing about your opinion in a fight this close.
Sheerly a matter of opinion, and a draw was a fair result.
And for the record, this fight was one of the worst HBO commentaries in a LONG time (and they are often ba)d. They
were constantly having long winded distracting conversations
that had NOTHING to do with what was actually happening while
the fight is going on. Just awful.
I definitely agree with that Steward and Jones are typically the voice of reason. Has anbody else noticed that Merchant's comments are much worse than they were before. His analogies don't even seem to make sense anymore.
I agree...I also thought that what Lederman was saying was bogus early on. All he was saying was that KD was the aggressor so he should be winning but Casamayor was boxing pretty well and was leading on compubox punch stats  I think it was after the 4th round or something.
What sense does it make for foreign fighters to come to the U.S. and continuously get robbed? Horrible decesion. Schreck also had Golota vs. Ruiz 114-111 for Ruiz. He should never be allowed to judge another fight ever again.
Dude exactly who the fuck was the foreign fighter in that fight that you are referring too? I totally thought that Kid Diamond won the fight tonight but your statement is rediculous seeing as how they actually spoke english in Diamonds corner (the russian or whatever he is) and they spoke spanish in Casamayor's corner(Cuban). One would think that if anybody was gonna be the recipient of a bogus decision it would have been Kid Diamond because he is the Top Rank Fighter and it was their show. But in reality this was nothing more than another sad case of a horrible judge doing a terrible job of scoring a fight, hopefully sooner or later this kind of shit will start to become as obvious to the state commissions as it is to the general public and they will stop the maddness of appointing these hoopleheads to the position of judge!
I couldn't really say because I missed thier commentary at the end but I'll take your word for it. Without Steward or Jones there both Lampley and Merchant would make it seem as though KD won by a landslide which Lampley tried to do during most of the fight.

I'm not saying they aren't biased but if you have ever watched a Sky sports telecast when one of the boxers is British they are exponentially more biased than HBO. They make their fights sound like fairy tales for the British boxers. Also its not about HBO's reputation its about how biased they were for this fight. You can't deny that their commentary at the end of the fight included that they could understand that the fight was scored a draw.

It was a robbery. Not a serious case of bein robbed, but a robbery nonetheless. Kid Diamond landed mo punches, and harder punches. He was controllin the fight and had Casamayor on the defense mode most times. Even wobbled Casa in few occasions.
Casamayor jest ran half to most of the fight. He got lucky wit the draw. Kid Diamond shoulda won. I dont think I can make a case where Casamayor would deserve the W.
I don't think I'm blowing it out of proportion when they have a history of picking a fighter and focusing on nothing but him for most of the fight.

Look at the photogallery, and read underneath this picture, I think they made a typo :D . (Casamayor fight, any picture)
CM Puertorican?
Don't blow their bias out of proportion. Their bias is pretty subtle. There were several points in the fight where they mentioned that Casa was coming on and winning rounds. In addition Steward even said that he could see how the judges saw the fight as a draw. Lederman's scorecard was right in line with one of the tree judges scorecards. He was just on the far end of the KD spectrum. If you really want to see bias look at Sky sports telecasts with an British boxer involved.

You never thought HBO was biased? You more than likely won't find a more biased crew anywhere else in boxing.

Bottom line is that I just can't have that much sympathy for a guy who makes so many mistakes and then has the decision go against him (or not even technically against him, in this case). I felt the same way after Tarver - Johnson...I had Tarver down as winning, but after all that running around and taking rounds off, I can't exactly feel sorry for the guy.
It seems to me that a win in boxing should be earned. Maybe in pro football you can take a night off and still get the W but if it happens in boxing you should consider yourself lucky, and if it doesn't happen you shouldn't complain too much about it.
btw for the hypocrite police I know that I've supported Hopkins when he took "nights off" in recent years but if he had somehow lost those fight in close decisions I wouldn't have blown my top about it.
The only thing I saw that I liked from Diamond is how quick his right hand is. He tends to wing it sometimes though and he'd be much better off by just throwing it straight down the chute.
He didn't show me too much else, and it was evident that Casamayor wasn't the same fighter anymore (although he's still very good). You could just tell that one guy was energetic and young and the other guy is getting on in years.
I hope to see more of KD in the future though he seems like he could be polished into a pretty good fighter.
