First of all congratulations to Ricky Hatton.
Although, had the fight been elsewhere (out of the UK), I don't think it would have been the same..................the referee should have done a lot more and didn't seem to be impartial to me....
once again congratulations to Ricky Hatton........i wonder if he'll risk fighting in the states now.
hmm
Both fighters hit low and held excessively, surely you saw that, Martin. Doesn't mean the fight was unfair though, because both fighters were ok with it and took part in it. Tszyu just came up short.
Hatton is a good fighter and one of my more favorites, especially now with this performance over Tszyu, but you guys who have been behind Hatton all along better not get pompous and arrogant. Hatton was rightfully the underdog in this fight and now people will not underrate him.
the ref aint biased they both went for the low blows etc etc etc..........
anyway...back to the point
hatton has expressed his intention, now that he has recieved the attention he has deserved for so long to continue his career in america for the money and the best opponents
good luck to him - i think he has the potential to be in the hall of fame
thats y i beta lll my points on him KTFOing Tszyu
I don't think Dave Parris did anything wrong... He refereed a good fight. Hatton likes to fight on the inside, that's his style. There's nothing wrong with Hattons style, he's fought the same way for 38 fights before and will fight the same way in future fights.
Ricky Hatton is a come forward agressor, who's bullish and throws wicked hooks to the body. - This is boxing, and this is a boxing style. Others in the past have fought like this and others in the future will continue too. There's nothing wrong or unfair about the way Hatton fights, and some fighters (counter punchers) would actually prefer to fight a guy with Ricky Hattons style.
Martin, ask yourself one honest question...........if HATTON's style wasn't working in his favour, would the ref had acted differently?
imo, the ref let it go on because it was going in hatton's favour.....as simple as that.....and i firmly believe that had it not been going HATTON's way, the ref would have acted.
MARTIN WBC.....pommies are known for being whingers.......i am complaining and expressing my views mostly on the officiating.........there are other people on this site with threads about fixes, etc...
what are you on about? the british are the best ''losers'' in the world, most of the teams/individual sports people who get the most respect in britain are the non-champions, the ''brave''losers who try their very best. take frank bruno for example.

To be honest Moochi, I have respect for you and your boxing opinions, but with this rant you've gone on starting threads trying to diss-credit Hatton's victory, I'm fast losing that respect.
OK, it pissed you off that Hatton won, and you lost money etc... But some of the shit you're starting to post now is utter rubbish.
Hatton won fair and square, and Kostya Tszyu had a lot of praise for Hatton after... He said to Hatton, "the best man won, and if you ever need any advice or help with your career, I'm always there for you". That's a fighter that has respect for a fellow fighter.
Hatton won.
thanks for your opinion, but in my threads i haven't mentioned anything against ricky.....i'd rather see a pom than someone else take over the throne.
i have expressed my dismay at the officials...that is it....Ricky took advantage and who wouldn't in such a situation....
I respect you too Martin WBC, but after seeing umpteen title fights in Europe, and many questionable events throughout them, I am disappointed that in such high profile bouts there can be reason for arguments thereafter....
You too, have to admit that there is reasonable questioning over the officiating...
once again i reiterate, that i have not mentioned anything against ricky.
does GOLOTA ring bells.....and the ref knows the difference between a low blow, and a VERY LOW BLOW........
He was DQ'd after several low blows, after he'd been warned and docked points already. You're showing yourself up now.
can u give us an example of a fighter like that fighting in the states and not getting docked or DQ'd?
Bonecrusher Smith v Tyson or any number of Ruiz fights spring to mind if you're talking about the clinching. You're talking like KT wasn't holding and hitting and throwing rabbit punches too.
If you're talking about leading with the head then there's a few Holyfield fights to go at for starters.
You're so much in denial it's untrue. I can't remember any fighter ever being docked 2 points or DQ'd for a single low blow in a fight.
sven ottke won a lot of controversial decisions, hatton beat tszyu by way of TKO, he clearly won the fight, it's not comparable to ottke in any way, hatton would have won that fight anywhere in the world.
the ref should have scored it a KD when tszyu gave him a body shot....the ref didn't. .....the ref should of definitely taken 2 points from that shot to the balls...he didn't.....
is that how he clearly won? it is not easy for a fighter when these things happen and the ref is not being fair either....this is true whether you like it or not....
hatton's style did affect tszyu, but had the ref been more fair, he wouldn't have been able to fight as dirty..
why would it be any different? hatton's pressure is the same in the UK as in the states
really? can u give us an example of hatton's last fight in the states with a similar style?
can u give us an example of a fighter like that fighting in the states and not getting docked or DQ'd?
If Hatton fought in the United States....It would've been the same
If he fights in England like he usually does, I will lose respect
I would like to see him and Vivian Harris fight....
Hattons style was perfect to beat Tszyu
Tszyu only has that right hand and ring generalship, but wouldnt work against a pressure fighter
so, let's see him face a corralles, mayweather, harris and in the USA.........sven ottke beat every man before him in germany, and many of his 20 or so defences were controversial........and he was never mentioned of being a top p4p fighter....

I wanted Tszyu to win the fight but he didn't. Now we might get to see a mayweather or gatti showdown with Hatton. We also might see Tszyu fight a big fight or two before he retires. I wonder if a week from now Tszyu will want a rematch. A lot of guys talk about retiring after they lose their title but then change their song a little later. I haven't seen the fight yet but I'm excited that it went 11 rounds. I'd love to see Gatti and Hatton slug it out or see mayweather try to outbox Hatton.
I don't think a win against Tszyu puts Hatton in top 5 P4P possibly top 10 or close. Tszyu has beaten a lot of talented guys displaying a lot of different styles. Just because Hatton beat him does not mean that he could have beaten all of those guys. Hatton has to establish his own legacy and this is just the start for the young guy. It's just like Tarver or Glen Johnson. They are good fighters and they both beat a great fighter, Roy Jones Jr., but their resumes don't stand up against the other fighters in the P4P rankings. If Hatton can win another big fight or two he should definitely be in the P4P but right now its just too early. He has almost forty wins but Kostya is the only name that sticks out. Not to mention he hasn't left his hometown yet.
tszyu should retire, i don't think he really wants it any more... he wants to be with kids and family... he even mentioned that after his previous fight with mitchell...
Probably not. It would've been the same outcome if it were in the US. Hatton was the better man. He fought a smart and tactical fight. It will be very interesting to see who he will fight next. I hope it's not Chico. That will be total mismatch in Hatton's favor.
A "boxer" like Mayweather bullied him. Hatton will run him over.
i want to see hatton in action in the states.........if he beats another top fighter, he'll gain my respect..........if not, he's a one hit wonder against a 35 yo with some favoritism from the ref........

hmm
1) The ref may nit have been great, but he was FAIR. He warned both guys for the same fouls, and allowed both guys to play that dirty game (if you wanna call it that).
2) Tszyu CHOSE to fight that fight, and said after the fight that he was ok with it. He thought he could beat Hatton like that, he was wrong.
3) Therefore, changing the venue would not change the outcome. Only thing that MIGHT change it is if they fight at a more logical time, as Hatton was training at 2am in prep for the fight and Tszyu admittedly was doing the normal thing, and MAY have been affected by the late start (that cannot be proven of course, only speculated, but certainly a possibility).
4) Tszyu's still a good fighter, Hatton is just better. Hatton is top 5 p4p now whether you like it or not.
First of all congratulations to Ricky Hatton.

I must say Ricky fought like a crazzed chucky doll. However he had the reff make the fight for him... This shit would not happen in the states.. Mayweather would have ko'd Ricky no matter. Ricky is nothing more and nothing less then a dirty snarling club fighter... Stay in Manchester Ricky, you will always win with the reffs in your pocket....
