There is always talk about which boxers punched the hardest, which boxers had overrated power, or underrated power, i think the only way to prove how hard a boxer really did hit would be to line them all up on one of these scienctific tests, and see the rusults.
Does anybody know if any of these tests have been done before? i think Frank Bruno did it one time, but thats the only fighter i can think of.
Archie Moore claimed Marciano was bar none the strongest man he faced but that he was HIT THE HARDEST by Yvonne Durelle. In other words, Durelle hit him with the best cleanest punch and came the closest to knocking him out. I have the Marciano vs. Walcott fight and have seen it several times. I can only say that one of Marciano's biggest weaknesses was a lack of accuracy. Even when he hits Moore, it's rarely on the chin.
After the fight Moore said fighting Marciano was like getting beaten all over the body with a blackjack.
Anyone who doubts Marciano's hitting power is just a hater. Even his biggest detractors have to admit that he could hit a ton or they instantly lose credibility.
What the f*ck is this stupid obsession with how big a guy is vs how hard he can punch? Tyson, Lennox etc. hit harder than Marciano because they were bigger. I guess Hulk Hogan hits harder than both of them. And Andre the Giant has to be the hardest hitter of all time.
And whats the knock against Archie Moore? He has twice as many KO's as today fighters have total fights. He was a champ into his 40's and fought well into his 40's. Percentage wise, Tyson has been knocked out more often than Archie. Archie was a sharp, crafty, tough fighter. A "W" over Archie, whether it be a KO or decision is an acheivement. If you weren't on the top of your game and ready to fight, Archie would take your ass out.
Young Turk, I have Lucky Luciano's autograph. My Dad got it from him in Italy when my Dad was in the Marines.
marciano was one of the hardest punching heavyweights of all time?get the hell out of here.he wasnt a heavyweight to began with.he was 185 pound man who fought guys who weighed between 155 to about 200.he hit so hard that it took him 8 or 9 rounds to knock out archie moore who was knocked out at least 10 times in his career.marciano hit so hard that moore said durelle hit way harder than marciano did.but anyways its kind of hard to really judge how hard a person hits.tyson has alot of knock outs but how many against top fighters?none at all besides a old holmes.on the other hand foreman knocked out legends.grazing punches from him caused most fighters to retreat.even at 42 he was able to hurt a prime holyfield something tyson couldnt do to a old washed up one.so you cant base power on just how many knock outs a guy has.based on virtully ever fighter who fought tyson lewis and foreman they all say foreman hits alot harder.and this was the old one.so imagine how hard the young foreman must of punched.imagine if foreman learned to get his weight into his punches or learn how to punch correctly.based on this foreman was clearly the hardest puncher who ever lived.
^you really hate marciano huh? the guy obviously hit hard most fighters back then did not go down in 1 round and it doesnt have to do with them not hitting hard back then it has to do with the animal instinct back then they just had tougher fighters who could take punches and there gloves were smaller.
Formen was one of the hardest hitting punchers but when he got older he probally hit harder since he never jumped off his feet and was always planted.
Actually at the time Bruno came out on top in that test. They were using it in the UK to promote Bruno's chances. He was, aparently, at that time the hardest puncher in the game. No good if you turn up, shit yourself and go into your shell. Shame lots of potential but no killer instinct.
Drago hit at first at 1850 psi.
The result is obvious.
What result is that?
Whatever he heetz, he deztroice (destroys).
UH!
he later hit much harder than even that.
According to the russian guy, average heavyweights punch at about 800 psi. It is a movie so it must be real.
Tyson hit harder than Bruno for sure. Especially when he fought Bruno. I think he hit harder than Foreman, but I'm very biased. Even if not, I say he would have knocked Foreman out for other reasons, such as speed and combinations, not super telegraphed punches (though Foreman somehow landed them very well).
punching in the ring with all ur adreneline pumping is different than punching a bag in a room.
Same thing as Football. Some people cant throw 40 yards if they are just thworing a ball at practice, but when they are playing and you gotta react fast its different
Fighters will not take that taste because if everyone knew how hard they trully punched it would lessen the fear instilled on there opponents.
Or increase it, if they hit really hard.
You heard...if it's true, then that's fuckin hard...
but anyone can say anything
I was told he was on some show, sometime in the fifties, and they had him do it. They wrapped the shit out of his arm, and hand, too.

I think every champion should take that test,
Yeah that's my point Paul. The fact that this guy just pulled some bullshit stat about Tyson hitting literally twice as hard as Bruno shot his credibility to pieces.
LOL at Tyson hitting twice as hard as Bruno, a man who several opponents claimed hit HARDER than Mike. Anyone who actually hit twice as hard as Bruno would have caved an opponent's face in with the first punch they landed.
i think there's a legitimate argument to say that tyson hit harder than bruno and some others, but to say that he hit twice as hard as bruno is ridiculous. there would be very little difference in terms of power between some of these guys.

frank bruno got 400kg on dat machine with gloves. tyson got 800kg. dats all i know.
i find it hard to believe than tyson would hit twice as hard as bruno, of course he could it harder but twice as hard seems a bit too much, i would like to see some of these records.
these guys have truly amazing power there's no doubt about that.
