Golota Statement!
Don King Productions has released the following statement from Andrew Golota: "I understand why the had to stop the fight, but I wanted to continue. I cannot believe this happens to me every decade (referring to Lennox Lewis stopping Golota during the 1990’s), maybe its time for me to think about leaving boxing....I prepared for this fight since the beginning of the year and I cannot believe it is so quickly over."

i would have liked to see Brewster beat him up for a few more round. So that people wouldn't say it was luck. But since i predicted a 1st round KO it worked out for me
They let sadists into the army? :) Well-timed stoppage imho. I was also a bit surprised when Roy Jones Jr. predicted Golota would not survive the round, I guess his last two fights have taught him well.
Golota did nothing this fight but get knocked around. If there had been anything coming from him, I'm sure the fight wouldn't have been stopped. Brewster dominated the punchstats, and I don't know if Golota landed anything clean the whole bout. Golota wasn't fighting back after the second knockdown. He probably would have got up all day; didn't mean the fight should have gone on...
Or hopefully he would have got brain damage and died. That would have been nice.
come on man...be serious..............
why wasn't it applied to marquez then......
one thing i bet for sure is that if it was the other way around...i mean with the american (brewster), it wouldn't have been stopped....
he beat the count ight dont gotta be foolin foos who saw same fight wit them doos! But realistically speakin, Brewster woulda destroyed Golota anywayz. Whateva angle you look it, them situation fo that brah Golota is still fucked up ya dig?!
Though it true that some refs dont know what the deal is and they sumtimes wrongfully stop them fights.
he got up immediately....like others mentioned, he looked more shocked than what he did hurt (as with the first KD)............
the third time he went down out of stiffness and bounced up immediately........i'm not saying that he would have had a chance in the remainder of the fight/round, but at least many would have got their money's worth........and maybe maybe even Marqez knows.

Should have asked ... did Golota get up quickly from the third KD? Or was the ref standing over him not even giving him a count?
As soon as he hit the canvas the third time the ref waved it off
Was the fight waved with Golota on the mat or his feet?

yea but some trainers are too stupid to throw in the towel.it was a good stoppage.i was pulling for golota but he wasnt doing anything besides taking alot punches.instead of reading "golota got KOed in the 1 round",,would yall have rather read "golota brain dead after taking to much punishment and ref failing to stop the fight"
that's crazy talk. Some corners are too stupid to realize their fighter can't go on and a fighter with heart would get up till his brains get pounded to mush. Ref stoppage is a MUST.
yeah it's like the frazier v foreman fight, frazier kept beating the count, but does that mean it should have continued? of course not
Yeah but Marquez went down three times in the first round the fight was not stopped and then he gave Pacquiao a run for his money. Golota did not look hurt after the third KD, he looked shocked.
The first round didnt have 2 minutes left and Marquez wasnt looking like a board either.
I still say it isnt over until the fighter fails a count. Otherwise his corner can always throw in the towel.

Yeah, he looked fairly clear to me, I just don't know how he would have been able to reverse the situation, he wasn't moving, he wasn't fighting back, he wasn't trying to tie Brewster up, he was just letting himself be hit again and again. Personally, I felt bad for the guy
If Brewster wanted to swing, Golota should have swung. Tyson had the reputation, Lewis had the size, no reason by Golota got gun shy with Brewster. Succumbed(spelling) to preassure...
When you go down 3 times in a minute, I wouldnt want to see it continue either.

No more chances for Golota. But one thing for sure, these bitch refs these days always prematurely stopping fights.
always remember you can never stop a fight too early, only too late
