5 Near Perfect Fighting Performances

You need to watch those fights again McKay. Holy/Tyson 1 was way more 1 sided than Tyson/Douglas. Holy kicked his ass all over the ring....and stunned him like 10 times untill finally knocking him out. They were both pretty damn one-sided, and it's tough to say which was more one-sided, but I think Holyfield's performance was slightly more impressive because he was fighting a much more motivated, hungier Tyson than the one who showed up for a cake walk vs. Douglas. Tyson showed more heart vs. Douglas than in almost any other fight because he still almost overcame the domination to KO Buster (and then when Buster got up, Mike had almost nothing left), whereas Holyfield was in control more or less the entire fight. No clear answer here, though, as both were great performances.

that's not call domination: it's called fighting oyur heart out against a great opponent and coming out on top. ali (just like frazier) was also never the same the fight, this is anything but domination) Agreed, Ali's win over Fraizer in the second fight was a much more dominant performance...in ways it was similar to Winky - Tito.

not to mention: Lennox Lewis vs all opponents (except the 2 mishaps vs mccall & rockman) i agree -in the tyson fight, although its not on the level with some mentioned, alot of people thought tyson was going to hurt lewis and lewis just controlled the pace of the fight and got his deserved victory.

douglas was floored and almost knocked out. How is that a great performance in comparison to Holy or Lewis' against Tyson? Because nobody ever beat Tyson before. And nobody knew what the forumula was to beat him. Douglas dominated the entire fight. Mike got a lucky huge uppercut in. But besides that Douglas totally dominated. Won probably every round except the round he was knocked down in. And knocked the previously thought invinciable Mike Tyson out cold after dominating every round but 1. IMO Holyfield and Lewis did not beat up and dominate Tyson the way Douglas did. Lewis fought the old 234 pound out of shape Tyson. Holyfield's performance against Tyson was masterfull, but I think Douglas's was more masterfull because he was the first one to beat Mike, and he beat Mike up more.
