He actually did more damage to his future although no fault of his own. Beating the overhyped Trinidad the way he did, NONE of the top guys will want to go anywhere near him. He will become the next Chris Byrd in that there will be WAAAy to much risk vs reward in fighting him. The following line sums it up the best:
Accordingly, guys like Bernard Hopkins, Jermain Taylor or Fernando Vargas, who could make equal (or more) money fighting less dangerous opponents, will probably opt to pass on fighting the new pound-for-pound candidate. Let’s be realistic for a moment. Without the promise of huge money, what is the incentive for them to risk looking like Trinidad did earlier tonight?
Exactly. Fighting Winky Wright equals the risk pf PUBLIC HUMILIATION. And that's something NO boxer wants to go thru!

it's been that way his whole career. why risk losing and looking bad, when you can fight someone who is easier to hit and beat, and make more money.....Vargas didn't want a rematch....
thats is very true, Winky will have to become more exciting to be able to make crazy money, good fighter might be hesitent in fighting him because of his very very defensive style.

I don't know if thats necessarily true and I think thats a negative way to look ar the biggest win of his career.
Winky well get the big fights now with King is his corner. I hate Don King but he does get fighters big fights and the public well demand fights like Winky Vs Hopkins/Taylor or Winky Vs Vargas.
well a win is better off anyday than a loss.but i think this fight has hurt winky in getting big money fights.his boring style of jabbing all night isnt going to get him paid.not many people is gonna pay to see him as a main event.its just a boring style.its not his fault that is the style that he has mastered but it is hurting him when it comes to getting big money fights.and the guy that compared winky to byrd is right.nobody wants to see byrd fight .he just isnt interesting enough to draw crowds and that is whats going to happen with winky.the jab, jab, jab, jab, ect. isnt going to get him paid.i said already once, that we will prolly never again see winky as a main event on a PPV card again.
Hopkins wont go anywhere near Winky you are right about that!! Winky should have let Tito win a couple rounds and made it closer.. Itd mean a lot more $$$$$$$$$$$$$4 for him in the future!!
This is correct. And think about what he wrote. "Let" a fighter MANY consider to be an absolute LEGEND win a couple rounds! "LET HIM"! This is evidence Wright is an utter dominating machine!
i know Bernard wont fight him cause hes only got 2 more fights left after Jermain and there wont be a lot of money in that fight. I can see jermain fighting him if he beats B-hop. I also think Vargas would fight him because he needs the fight to put him in the spot light again.
true indeed......but he won't make money unless he is an exciting fighter........if he fights like sven ottke, he will only be a statistic and people WILL avoid him....for reasons of no money in the fight and the high risk of losing.
