"The measure, approved on a voice vote, would set up a national computerized medical registry of boxing personnel and would provide uniform ranking criteria and contractual guidelines.
The bill, which must still be considered by the House, is sponsored by Sen. John McCain of Arizona, a boxing fan who has long tried to clean up the sport by better protecting the health of boxers and ensuring fair financial treatment for them.
The three-person U.S. Boxing Commission would be appointed by the president and function within the Commerce Department.

It would be awesome if this actually works out. Hopefully, Don King won't corrupt the process by giving a bunch of money to politicians. He has a knack for corrupting situations to his benefit.
Only someone who can't win an argument or is a baby puts people on ignore lists. If you don't have the emotional fortitude and maturity to handle an adult conversation on the internet, don't bother posting and get a babysitter.
I dont waste time arguing with people on here anymore who are consciencely liars. People are not that actually interesting in debating things but propagating politcal propaganda. I'd rather just leave these kind of people out of sight and out of mind. Maybe you should join the list of people I have chosen to keep out sight and out of mind pretender. YOu meet alot of the criteria.
And by the way DIO you are the only person who has made to my ignore list up to this point. Your a PR officer for the Federal government or democratic or republican party. Your PR is simply not interesting to me. If I wanted to here what you expouse I can go the website of George W Bush, Watch ABC, go to the DNC website, or the RNC website.
Duh :dunno: ...That's nothing new. It applies to any organization or individual for that matter. When you throw out accusations without any facts, you get sued for that shit. It's called "SLANDER".
It does not have to be slanderous. You not allowed to say anything, in any publication, whether it is positive or negative about the NFL without approval of NFL commisioner Rosenberg. Your not not allowed to mention "NFL' or anything pertaining to the NFL without the express concent of Rosenberg himself. If your going to write articles about how the NFL is corrupt well your not going to get Rosenberg's approval quite obviously.

I assumed he meant writing with proof, and not slander.
So you cant write an OP-ED in newspaper saying the NFL is corrupt because if you do it is illegal and the NFL will sue you.

It is true what I said. You have my word that it is true. Its up to you whether to accept my word or not. But go surf the internet and try to find an article criticle of the NFL or accusing it of being corrupt you wont find a single one for the reasons afformentioned.
I dunno. If some guy walked up to me and pointed at someone and said, "That guy is a rapist," I'd probably not take their word for it unless they actually had some kind of proof. I couldn't disprove that he was a rapist, but I believe in the whole, "innocent until proven guilty," thing. I'm sure that you have your reasons, and I recognize that you could be 100% correct, but I'm just not going to believe it until someone gives me some kind of proof. There are two reasons why people might not be writing that the NFL is corrupt:
1 - the NFL is corrupt and strong-arms anyone that tries to write about it.
2 - the NFL is not corrupt, so no one has any reason to write about it
I'm gonna have to go with #2 until I can find any reason to believe otherwise.
How do you know that's true about the NFL? If that were true, you certainly couldn't have read about it, could you? I'll admit that could be true, but I'd want to see something written or other type of news before I'd actually believe it.

You are blind if you dont see corruption in professional sports. Its just not publicized like it is for boxing. IMO the NFL in particular is an extrodinarily corrupt league. Look who the owners are of these professonal sports teams. OH GEORGE BUSH the former owner of the Texas Rangers.
You know you get sewed if publicize anything about the NFL without the express concent of the NFL commisioner Rosenberg. If you write something about the NFL in a newspaper that in circulation of a town of 10,000 people and the NFL finds out they sew you. So you cant write an OP-ED in newspaper saying the NFL is corrupt because if you do it is illegal and the NFL will sue you.

And yes, I do recognize there is corruption in professional sports. There always has been and will be. But I think there are a few things a federal commission can do better, like setting standards to protect the lives and well being of boxers.
I think a federal boxing commission could work out well. Every other pro sport has a commission, and I don't see much corruption in the NFL, NBA or baseball. I'm sure there's some, but nothing so dramatic that it really impacts the day to day of the sports or what the product the fan gets. Boxing needs someone to step up and protect the fighters. Right now, it doesn't seem like the individual states are doing that.

Finally, logic, either for or against the commission enters the thread.

This message is hidden because Dio2 is on your ignore list.
Just so everyone knows. I can't see what McKay is posting because he has put me on his ignore list. I won't even waste my time doing the same to him.
and international commission would make more sense to me...boxing is a global sport as someone above stated and if Boxing will be governed by one commission, I think an international commission would be more fitting
That's a good idea but any international commission formed should realistically deal with the other problems the world has right now. Its almost impossible to get the international community to intervene when there is a genocide. Let alone when there is corruption in boxing.
It wil be such bullshit, like if your a boxing promoter who has views that the democratic and republican party dont like they wont sanction your bout. Every single boxing match will be " This is dedicated to the brave men and women fighting in the middle east" and if your not politically correct they wont liscense you.
Actually, I doubt they will ever concern themselves about the boxers political views. I would guess that it more is likely to end up being not so much political in that way as excessively bureaucratic. Lots of clipboard carriers who will CYA prize fighting right into being indistiguishable from the amateurs. It will be every bit as easy to have a fight as it is to conform to OSHA standards or get EPA to approve a building project, for example.
Your a propagandist, I am ignoring you, I advise everybody else to do the same.
That is unbelievable. I am a propagandist. If I was a propagandist would I waste my time putting propaganda on this website. You are obviously just a kid that's angry at the world as evidenced by your picture. Your last few posts have been completely void of any argument. So now you are going to ignore what I have to say. Its just like the Fox News associating those against the war/Bush with not being patriotic. I really feel sorry for you.
The 3 men wouldn't have absolute power and every few years there would probably be new people on the commission. Also the president doesn't appoint the people to the commission.

First off, I know so much more about this country and how corrupt it is than you do. Second, you are demonstrating the same mindset(essentially all emotion and no logic) that the right wing in this country tends to have...you just happen to be liberal. I don't work for the government and I don't even watch news on TV because it is owned essentially by 3 companies as is almost everything you watch on television. You are just like an arrogant and ignorant conservative you just happen to be liberal. By the way I don't have a problem with conservatives or liberals I have a problem with how our "democracy" works.

Its alot easier for 1 commision to become corrupt than 50. Especially a commision that has so much power.
IF this happens the sport of boxing will be destroyed. Get used to watching German TV to see boxing at odd hous of the day. That is what it will be like in 10 years. If you want to see real boxing.
You are propagandist that probably works for the federal government. You cant possibly be so stupid as to actually believe this would help the sport of boxing. The more power you have the more chance of being corrupt there is. And this commision has absolute power, its complete bullshit.

If we were to follow your logic that we shouldn't have a federal boxing commission because it would be corrupt then we can't let the government do anything because it will all become corrupt. Also you seem to be ignoring the already corrupted state that boxing is currently in.
