Credit to Corrales, but he CHEATED!

No, I guess your post wasn't that bad, but it just got me to thinking about all the people we'll hear from six months from now that will be saying that Corrales "lost", or whatever. Think of all the Klicthko fans that refer to how he "beat" Lewis. So, okay, sorry to attack you there :cool: . As for spitting out the mouthpiece, it was a bit of a cheap tactic but I've seen much worse. Not to mention that if I was knocked down and trying to get my wind back I probably wouldn't want a mouthpiece jammed into my mouth, so there's another good reason to get rid of it. its ok mate.......i was just surprised at how easily corrales was knocked down the second time, which made me think, this guy really must be dazed in there......therefore i thought that he would get dropped for a third time also....but then the delay from the mouthpiece and point deduction....... they are both warriors in my opinion, and a rematch would be great for us, but painful for them.... what a contrast between the lightweight divisions and the HW division....

Right now im not mad at the way corrales used the system but I will be if he chickens out of the rematch.

In the interview after the fight, Corrales was asked about it by Jim Gray and he said that the first time the mouthpiece fell out from being punched hard in the head, and the second time he said he was out of breath and he took it out with his glove and it slipped because it is hard to hold a mouth piece with a glove. Either way, I think he learned that from Freitas, even though it did not ultimately save Freitas, it bought him some time.

the second time he deliberately spit it into his glove and threw it away from him. goosen took too long to get the mouthpiece back in. the time taken by weeks to deduct the point were all factors. he had over a half a minute to recover the second kd. don't get me wrong i like both of these guys and to see either one win makes me happy. but to see it won the way it was is a letdown. just my opinion.

Good point also....Corrales may have chucked his mouthpiece for more than 1 reason. Also, if he was thinking clearly enough to get rid of his mouthpiece to buy a little time at the risk of a point deduction, it shows he was still thinking pretty clearly. Additionally, he's always been prone to flash KD's. Some fighters are (Trinidad is another one...he often gets caught early and floored, but is only stunned for a couple of seconds), and strangly enough, they seem to be hard to KO by big single shots. You can put 'em down, but they keep getting up until they get caught on the ropes and are caught by a big combination.

I don't like to see that sort of thing myself, but it's not like he was intentionally billy-goating, throwing low blows, or rabbit-punching on purpose. Spitting out a mouthpiece doesn't affect the other fighter directly, so it's not really in the same class as "cheating", or dirty fighting. It's just a cheap tactic that some fighters may use when they get in serious trouble if they want to risk the point deduction should the fight go the distance.

Credit to him for coming back, but had he not cheated (by throwing out his mouthpiece), he would have got knocked down again and the ref would have surely stopped it. He threw his mouthpiece out on both occasions and i am sure that valuable extra rest saved his ass..... credit to him for coming back, but he cheated in my opinion. CASTILLO is more the warrior. no i dont think it would have been stopped...he got up...there was no standing 8.. that was the rules... he got up...but stoping the fight when corrales popped him may be contreversal but i think he was out standing up....good call to stop the fight when he did...good call to deduct a point....and on behalf of corrales...good call getting those extra seconds...might be a non traditional way to win but he is unified
