A recent article by Ring Magazine got me thinking that DLH will once again become an undisputed world champ. Going down to a weight division that suits his natural frame and has top tier talent will give him a helluva chance. I dismiss those who say it will be to hard to go back down if he’s carrying 165 on a day to day basis, because he will work his ass off to regain his glory. With names like Zab Judah , Kosta Tzyu, Kermit Cintron, Antonio Margarito, and the return of his nemesis Shane Mosley it won’t be hard to find a mega fight. I like his chances over all these guys, (we’ll see about ‘ol Shane after the Estrada fight) because of his speed, movement and power. He is well rested and still a young 31. The rumor is it will be Zab in September…I see DLH having a tough scrap but in the end touching up Zab…..FYI Zab doesn’t have the Mosley granite chin (see one punch and done versus Tzyu). So for all you DLH haters, get ready to hate some more cuz he’s coming back. I doubt that he’ll ever rematch Tito, but If Tito loses to D.C.’s finest, he’ll be in big need of a money fight…..so he’ll have to look for DLH…
To be continued……
Personally I don't think Mosely is going to have much to offer at welterweight and I pick Estrada to beat him. Dundee is going to help pull the upset.
Also, DLH beat Mosley in their last fight, so not only is Judah>Mosley but DLH>Mosley as well.
bold statement brother, It would be a huge upset, I'd take that one to the Grand Casino in Mississippi and throw $50 on it if I were you and had that kinda confidence in Estrada :)
Seriously tho, Mosley might fade late due to fatigue and Estrada could take advantage, I've always thought Estrada could potentially be a top-flight contender, I just think he's too inexperienced at this point to beat Shane
It's all about the bucks for Oscar now. He should just retire he made enough already.
Btw i think if Vargas gave Oscar fits in the beginning of their fight by charging him and being able to get him against the ropes, Antonio Margarito can too especially right now with the diminished drive of Oscar, and the way Mayweather Sr. has taught him to fight.
Oscar isnt the same fighter, he got by the Vargas fight because he raised both his hands again, he went back to what he learned as a kid after Vargas was able so easily to get to him from his "Shoulder roll style".
The more and more he fights with Mayweather Sr. in his corner the easier it is going to be for fighters to get clean shots at him because soon enough he wont revert to what he used to do, only what Sr. has "taught" him.
Nothing against Margarito,I hope he wins Sat,but i seriously doubt he can beat oscar,The Vargas fight, oscar was losing in some early rounds, but thats because Vargas is a big mofo, who hits hard, and oscar still KO'ed him,so i dont see what chance margarito has,If he can win DECISIVELY, in his next fight, then I'll give him all the credit in the world and acknowledge he has a chance at beating oscar, but like i said,i doubt it.
he should fight sturm
No he shouldnt,he should fight at his own weight, why do you want strum fighting smaller guys?
And DLH will probably reign again, but it wont be a long "Reign" Maybe 3 fights tops, and i think DLH retires.
hmm

I don`t want to be picky but oscar was never an undisputed champ, he held the WBC/WBA lightmiddle titles and the WBO/IBF super feather titles but was never undisputed.
I think though its possible because the welterweight titles are already unified. It is possible i think for oscar to beat Zab, not garanteed but possible, so yes, i could imagine in happening but i wouldn`t back money on it because i think Oscar has lost his zest for boxing.
I agree. He doesn't seem to be the same fighter he used to be, but that was mostly evident in only his most recent fights at middleweight. I thought he looked pretty good against Mosley, so maybe all he needs is to get back down to welter.
I was wrong about Judah facing Mosely or Estrada for a mandatory it looks one of his mandatories is coming up in May against Cosme Rivera, He is the IBF mandatory. Shane Mosely is the current WBC #1.
at welterweight
mosley>DLH>judah>mosley
Judah will have to fight most likely Mosely as a mandatory before De La Hoya, so for De La Hoya to regain belts at welterweight he might have to fight Moseley again and he sucks against Mosely.
Oscar's more focused on making that paper right now
He doesnt give a shit about winning anymore.
GREAT post! Oscar is all about the Benjamin's, that's why I wouldn't be shocked to see him fight Zab Judah because Oscar can take home about 15-20 mil for the fight, while he'll only need to cough up 6-8 mil for Zab, plus it's a very winnable fight for Oscar
Although Oscar doesn't need to prove anything to anyone, he is a shoe in for the Hall Of Fame already, I do think he can beat everyone at Welterweight at this time.
As for his promotions, more power to him, he is the kind of promoter that any young boxer would love to have, he has been there, done that, seen that, felt that and anything else you can come up with. He is very good for the sport, like him or not...
Kostya Tzyu is a jr Welterweight along with mayweather, Gatti, Cotto, and others. the top 3 guys at welterweight Cintron, Margarito, Judah, Mosely, Estrada. Whowever wins this the fight between Estrada and Mosely is likely to be ranked #1 contender by both the IBF and WBC. So Judah might have to fight one of them before he can worry about De La Hoya.
If De La Hoya goes to welterweight though it would not surprise me if Tzyu came up in weight to fight him. De La Hoya would have a big size advantage over Tzyu and De La Hoya hits hard. So I dont know if Tzyu would want to fight him. De La Hoya has huge shoulders and legs for welterweight and has extreme strength in that divsion.
I would love to see a fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya, not necessarily for the fight itself, but just to see what kind of advice Mayweather Sr. can give Oscar in the cornr.

What about the guys coming up from 140? I see Mayweather giving him all kinds of trouble, and if Oscar wins some belts he'll move up in a second to take the big-money fight.
