he is still skinny at 130, he seems to have all the muscles concentrated on the back (which is a good thing) comes in 10pounds heavier,
until what weight do you think he can be succesful?
can he take the power of corrales and castillo for example?
if not, can he decide to box for 12 rounds and stick to the plan?
(I would always bet on him , but I would never bet my house on him , see rd12 with pacquiao)
I think that he would not be able to stand and trade at higher weights, and, after realizing it the hard way, he would become more disciplined and win lots of fights.
Expect beat Barrera convincingly!
i thought he beat barrera convincingly in their second fight. especially if you count that knockdown (it was legit). i dont think he can hang with the elites at 135 though. id favor castillo , corrales or casamayor over him.
Corrales would hurt Erik so much that it would throw him off from his gameplan.
Lazcano fought on even terms with Castillo for a lot of the fight and is also as big as Castillo (12 lbs bigger than Erik).
Casamayor outboxed Castillo in many points during their fight and he can box as good as Morales. Casamayor also has a good chin and Morales' power at 135 won't be anything for Casamayor.
Julio Diaz looked very good at times vs Castillo and has enough vitality to beat Morales (50/50).
Juan Diaz throws a million punches a round, and Morales would not be able to hurt him. Morales will have hardly any power if he goes to 135. He can only rely on chin and boxing skills. He won't be able to impose size or power on Diaz.
Some of you don't seem to understand how big and good these guys at 135 are. Erik is a legend in the lower weight-classes, but many people feel he would not have even beat Jesus Chavez if Chavez had not dislocated his shoulder.
Juan Diaz makes a lot of Mistakes, he is young, he is chubby and he is feather fisted (probably should be fighting at 130). No way he beats Erik Morales.
Corrales can be outboxed, he has been before by acelino Freitas before he ran out of gas.
Julio Diaz would be game contender for Erik. His isnt as experienced and that may be where Erik can take the advantage but you certainly cant count out Erik against him. He is not as big as the other guys either.
I dont think Morales should move up at all.If I was him the only reason I would move up is if I got a title shot just to add another belt in a different weight. I think he can beat some guys but it will be very hard for him to be a force.
hmm
They'd be very unlikely wins, but he could outpoint the bottom 3 as none of them have devastating power.

Guys Morales would definitely lose to at 135 lbs:
1) Castillo
2) Corrales
3) Lazcano
Guys he very well could lose to at 135 lbs:
1) Joel Casamayor
2) Julio Diaz
3) Juan Diaz
He could very well beat all of those guys at the bottom and I wouldn't count out Lazcano and Corrales. They'd be very unlikely wins, but he could outpoint the bottom 3 as none of them have devastating power.

Morales could probably take some of the 135 contenders, he needs to stay away from Corrales and Castillo however. Hell, he is still not the man at 130.
I think Morales can go up to lightweight take the baby bull's belt, beat Corrales by outboxing him and thats about it.
Castillo is way too big for Morales. Plus Morales decide to put on 5 extra lbs of fat instead of water, he's been known to eat a lot when he is on vacation hehe.
