Rahman- "James does a lot of talking and running off at his mouth, but let's see if he could back it up in the ring with me. I mean, he wouldn't have to pay me, I'll help him get ready for Ruiz and show him he's nowhere near my level at the same time."
Let us do see that. At least we know Rahman isn't shot like everyone else James has fought at heavyweight.
Why would Toney ever want to spar w/ Rahman who is a potential opponent. Last thing James wants is someone to feel out his style especially w/ his subpar heavyweight punch. James win by virtue that he's 2 stubborn to go down to the likes of Hassim and Rahman tires himself out. Toney outwrks Ruiz in a boring fight
I absolutelty agree that had the fight gone on Jirov wold have been KO'd.
I wholeheartedly disagree with the ones who were saying the fight was a blow out or a one-sided beating, and if you were one of those people, in my opinion, you were wrong.
I disagree with those people too. My stance on the whole fight was that Jirov put on a hell of a performance, against one of the most naturally talented boxers ever, but James knew what was gonna happen the entire time. It was pretty incredible since Jirov was THE man at cruiser. I thought it was a close fight but James was just on a different level.
I wonder who'd win a "prime" cruiser Jirov/Braithwaite fight.
hmm

Ok, when you wrote BS did you mean boxing scene?
cause i thought you meant bull shit. What i ment is if you think this stuff doesn't matter than why do are you posting on it.
Yeah sorry man I meant boxing scene. "Typical Boxing Scene debate" is what i meant to say.
Anyone who thinks the Jirov-Toney fight was anything other than a close fight in which the judges scores were not very accurate, has an opinion that I personally have very little understanding of. Toney landed clean shots and so did Jirov, many of them. That's what made it such a great fight. If it was such a blowout it would not have been considered the greatest fight, or one of them, at cruiserweight of all time.
The knockdown did not even seal it for Toney...and I was rooting for Toney big time. I could have seen it scored a draw even with the knockdown. Let me emphasize again that I was rooting for Toney and was yelling for him to "knock him (Jirov) the fuck out!"
That fight was close and both men were hurt at different periods. I've watched the fight many times and there is one shot in particular that really hurt Toney to the body.
Don't degrade Jirov by saying he got blew out or took a one-sided beating because it just is not true, period.
Who is degrading Jirov or belittling him? I scored the fight 6-4-1 for Toney going into the 12th with a couple rounds that were extremely hard to score. Then Toney won the 12th with the KD and I had it 7-4-1 for Toney. It was definitely a close fight with both guys giving it everything they had. It's one of my favorite all-time fights. Jirov won my respect in that fight and it was really the fight that got me back into boxing. But the fact is that James could have gone another 1/3/5 rounds and had Jirov tried he would have been knocked out. If taking a few steps back because you felt a good bodyshot is hurt then yeah maybe he was, but he never in any serious trouble at any point in the fight.

body shot was in round 2. toney takes 3 or 4 steps back (towards camera, HBO telecast)
jirov should have loaded up BIG at that point.

Then why you posting gringo?
What do you mean? It's really not that heated. All we were doing is debating. I don't think anybody is actually getting pissed behind their monitors...but I may be wrong.
Run w/ knives did you just deleate your post because you were worried about people giving you shit?
No, I wanted to give adeelr time to read it,
then delete it because it is unecessary spam. I was unable to deliver a PM to him becuase of overstocked quota.
I do that alot. Like a flash P.M. that does not stick.
Not to mention, completely off-topic like this post.
I plan to delete this one as well. :)

This would be a good match...Rahman is an impressive impressive
, i think he is a little under rated
What do you think Ali is saying in your avatar?
I think it would be:
"Everyone"
the first uncomplete part of the sentence:
"Everyone knows, I am the greatest"
god I have too much time on my hands.
Or maybe: "I" as in "I told you".

If he moves around against, Vitali, he won't be able to get his shots in. I don't know how good Vitali is on the inside, Toney's best bet is to close that range, protect himself while he's up against Vitali, and let Vitali spend himself on his arms, shoulders and elbows. I think everyone agrees with me that Toney can pick off alot of shots against the slow/robotic Vitali, can he beat him is a different story, but the way he fights would be more effective, in my opinion.
As far as Chris Byrd goes, Byrd didn't look too great against fighting a counter-puncher (Oquendo), because Oquendo took him out of his character and made him fight, that's what I think Toney would have to do.
REALLY?? Have you ever seen James Toney in the gym against Middlweight Danny Green?
Green handed Toney his ass, so much for in the gym theory right?
Something ironic, Green fought Toney in that sparring session like Ruiz fights.
Ruiz by decision.
toney was working with green for the msot part and busted him up bad throughout
it was a sparring session toeny was letting green get offense and countered all day
come on spinxs i would expect betetr from you man

What fight, besides the Ruiz fight, would possibly call for him to become a mover or have moving ability, in the HW division?
Chris Byrd/Vitali Klitschko any real top heavyweight. You think Toney could stand their and fight the way he does and be effective against Vitali? How would he be able to counter Byrd when Byrd wouldnt even go to Toney...Both are counter punchers and that fight would be ugly as hell. The Byrd fight is the only fight I got interest in seeing Toney fight to be perfectly honest with you.
