It is never to early to start talking about a big fight, so here we go!
--What do you guys think of my boy Chico's chances? I know that Castillo is kind of the trendy pick right now, especially with Diego being inactive since August, but...
While I am obviously gonna hold a little bias, here is why I think Chico is gonna pull if off; people when making a case for Castillo often point to his great performances against Mayweather (when compaired to Corrales' all time worst performance that does not look too bad). But here is the thing- styles make fights and we need to break this shit down! One thing that people should agree on is that the reason Mayweather picked Corrales apart so well is that he is so quick and elusive. This just so happens to be one of Castillo's strong suits (although he likes to stand and slug a little also). HOWEVER, the fact is that while Chico was beaten by the elusive Mayweather, this does not spell certain victory for the sometimes elusive Castillo. Corrales has fought (and beaten) guys who are in my opinion even harder to catch and hit then Castillo, for instance Joel Casamayor (whom both fought and eventually won close decisions against). And there is another thing, Corrales hits harder then Mayweather, harder then Frietas, harder then Casamayor, and harder then Castillo! (As both Frietas and Casamayor who both were put on the canvas by Diego might be inclined to say). And the question is, if Diego is able to catch Castillo, as he did Frietas and Casamayor, will Castillo be able to stand up to his power? And my answer is: "probably not". So therefore I take Corrales by KO.
--Thoughts? Rebuttals? Hate this argument (probably not alone)?
castillo was at 154 for his last fight........I think the way he fights .....such as his rough styel where he hits on breaks and leads wiht head and all taht will break corrales down......hes going to go to corrales body early to take out the power fomr him
Zab it is amazing that we can both agree so much on Judah (who aside from Chico is one of my three favorite guys) yet disagree so much on the outcome of this fight, haha! I think that in order for Castillo to win this fight (which he would be capable of if he chose to fight correctly) would be for him to stay out of the pocket, NOT try to rough house with Chico, and just generally stick and move side to side. However, I dont think that is what Castillo will do. I think that he is going to do as you say and try to get in close with him, put in work to the body, and just generally try to break him down on the inside. In my mind this is playing to Diego's strengths as he is a far better slugger then he is a boxer.
You make an excellent point... When I say "retard" and "dick" I actually mean I respect your different although equally correct interpretation... My bad, sorry.
Chico is still gonna knock him out though.
No problem.
I dont wear my emotions on my sleeve.
And you could definitely be right. I just disagree.

I agree with Nige. Chico is an explosive puncher with either hand, particularly the left hook. He throws short crisp punches with bad intentions. Castillo's gonna try & wear Chico down with his rough house tactics but will find it hard to do that to someone who's taller & just as strong if not stronger than him. Castillo eats alot of leather & it he thinks he's gonna walk through Chico's power he's making a huge mistake.
Try some of your own so called research... retard.

stop it with that research shit man- the fact is Castillo is shorter, as you say, and Corrales has had one fight at lightweight and did not come in at 135... Try some of your own so called research... retard.
If the size of their bodies tells us the story though, it makes sense that Chico will be the heavier fighter, or at least the same weight...
Castillo is about the same height: Actually 2 inch difference.
and will outweigh Corrales by 10 lbs.
he usually comes in at 149 or 150. I think 154 this time.
Corrales is by no means the bigger man,
research that

This is true, but Chico has ony had one big fight at lightweight and I am not exactly sure what he came in at against Freitas... If the size of their bodies tells us the story though, it makes sense that Chico will be the heavier fighter, or at least the same weight...
What weight does Corrales usually walk into the ring with? I know Castillo comes in at the junior middleweight level.
Corrales usually puts on about 10 lbs before fight-time, so I'd expect him to be at about 145 vs. Castillo once the bell rings
I have a sneaking suspicion that the almost six foot Corrales will come in heavier then Castillo for this fight... So I dunno about bigger per say...

castillo will break corrales down with his rough tactics.........corrales might have a harder punch but castillo is still bigger than corrales........castillo will win this

Castillo by mid-late stoppage in a slugfest. Castillo can take Corrales' punches, I don't think the converse is true. It's going to be a hell of a fight while it lasts however. If Castillo cuts then Corrales might take it.
Castillo has never been knocked out legitimately or down. All of his losses were by cuts, or robbery.
Corrales' chin is suspect. Castillo has K.O.'d 46 opponents.
Corrales is a twig Castillo is a chainsaw.
The bigger machine will systematically break down the weaker fighter.
I beg to differ, only one of the Mayweather fights were suspect and Castillo has yet to fight anybody with Chico's power. Castillo is meat that is headed to the grinder my friend. He is not leaving the ring on his feet.
One thing that even Showtime (whose announcing I don't carry in the highest of esteem) pointed out is that Castillo is open to the right hand- and Corrales can put people to sleep with either hand. I find myself wondering if Castillo is gonna be able to take Chico's power if he is able to land it easily?

Stylewise this match up heavily favors Castillo in my opinion. Castillo has the better chin, he throws much more combinations, he has more experience and he is much more rough on the inside than Corrales. The only real edge I give Corrales is power but I feel Castillo will be able to hurt Corrales more.
Both Diaz and Casamayor are much better boxers than Corrales and they couldn't stop Castillo from getting to the inside and banging the body so how can Corrales. Corrales usually throws only one punch at a time and Castillo's combinations are going to be landing all night while Corrales tries to reload his punches. His height and reach won't an advantage because once he sees Castillo landing punches he will want to go to war which will be his downfall. I think Castillo will eventually wear Corrales down for the stoppage.
Castillo by late round stoppage in rather one-sided fashion. Corrales has never been in the ring with a fighter as rough and tough as Castillo not even Casamayor. I'm not hating on Corrales but stylewise this matchup just doesn't favor him at all in my opinion. Casamayor and Diaz both had more advantages over Castillo then Corrales and I have even said they would give Castillo much more trouble than Corrales.
But I want you guys to take a close look at his fight with Acelino Freitas. Impressive as his late surge was, the fact remains that he stood idle for seven rounds, lumbering like a zombie & eating punches. Freitas just didn't have the ass to pull it off in the end. He could have ended that fight by asserting himself a little more around round 6 & not relying on half-assed flurries. That much movement & activity is not conductive with his abilities.{/QUOTE]
This actually is true what you say about the first few rounds of Freitas, I was practically screaming at the TV for Chico to get off his ass and get some work in. However, that slow start is not how he always is. Against Casamayor in the rematch he had his best work in the first six or seven rounds, controlling the fight with his jab and left hook. Against Gainer and Manfredy he was very active early knocking them both out before round four came. I think that Castillo's problem is that he is not just a boxer as you say. I see that as meaning that Castillo is goning to be more willing to stand in the pocket with Diego and trade, unlike Mayweather and Casamayor- and when that happens Diego puts fighters to sleep...
Diego Corrales will never be anything less than a very live underdog, no matter WHO he fights; Mayweather included.

Castillo, on the other hand, is a bull. In a slow round, he still throws upward of 60 punches. And it's not like Castillo is just gonna be racking up points on the cards; he's gonna be HURTING Corrales. Corrales has a chance if he gets it in his head to man up in the first few rounds, but Castillo is one of the most dangerous fighters in the world in the later rounds. Corrales only shot is to take care of it early. I just can't see it happening. He's gonna let Castillo into the fight, and it's gonna cost him in the end.
It is true about Diaz, he KO'ed him but Diaz had his moments in the fight. And if Diaz was not cut over both eyes who knows how the fight would have gone- I am pretty sure that alot of guys could beat Diaz when blood is flowing into both eyes!
