I don't know what he's been up to latley besides commentary, but I'm wondering if he's ever going to fight again. To my knowledge he hasent' retired yet. Is anyone up to date on this?
hmm
HAHA!
What's funny?
Let me say, Roy doesn't need to come back. You saw in the Johnson fight that he still has handspeed, but he has no footwork, and he doesn't have enough stamina anymore. He gets tired more easily at this age and having gone through what his body has gone through hasn't helped.
As far as his chin goes, it's actually not bad at all. Look at the shots that KO'd him, and consider the factors.
1) KO'd vs Tarver with a VICIOUS left, Tarver's power hand, and the punch was totally unblocked and hit with full steam. Tarver is one of the hardest hitters in the division.
2) Roy is a small lightheavy anyway, and still took shots from Ruiz and Tarver in that first fight which was brutal but Roy won and never got knocked down.
3) Against Glen, Roy took hard shots on the face and chin during the fight but was only KO'd after much punishment and with a shot almost in the back of the head, on the side, around the temple/ear area which is the easiest place to KO someone.
4) All of these things happened to Roy at an advanced age, and after he lost muscle mass which have an adverse affect on brain's ability to withstand force, making it easier to get hurt.
It's pretty unfair, given all this info, to say that Roy has always had a weak chin or that his chin was even weak recently. Examine the factors and you'll see, Roy's chin hasn't been weak in its history.
I think Roy is done, he used to be an animal, but I think its obvious now he relied way to much on his god-given speed and reflexes. He was always unorthodox, its jsut he could afford to be, now he can't. I cannot imagine that Roy is going to start boxing orthodox so I can't see him coming back.
"it's so possible hate or love him dont take nothing away from him though hes on a different level the tarver and johnson hes just older so he cant rely on his speed and agility to save him he has to box now"
Isn't this obvious that his "greatness" was based purely on his speed? As he is older and lost his speed he cannot defend himself from being hit so he can only box rely only on his boxing skills and power (which are not gone as fast as speed and reflex). While he lost 2 last times his skils, power and especialy his chin seems to be very questionable.
"He should come back and beat tarvers and johnsons asses then retire hes to great to go out like that".
It'll happen like that: he will wait while Johnson and Tarver retire, then come back for a few wins and then retire to great out.
nah he needs to avenge that shit

I agree. I'd be a pity to see such an amazing fighter fall from grace so quickly and just fade into nothing. I mean, it's sad that most of the great fighters out there end their career on a down note. (ie, Ali, Holyfield, Norton, ect.)
I would say he has one good fight left in him. Ofcourse his opponent would have to be carefully picked or we might have another Johnson incident. HAHA!
In a recent interview that wasnt on HBO, he said fighting isnt in his agenda. So for now he is retired but a comeback is possible, but for now and lets hope that he is retired.
