February 20, 2005 - BoxingTalk just got off the phone with Carlos “Famoso” Hernandez who gave us the scoop on his fight happening at the Staples’ Center in Los Angeles, May 28th on Showtime PPV. Famoso will be taking on Jesus Chavez in a WBC junior lightweight title eliminator allowing the winner to take on Marco Antonio Barrera, as well as the winner of Pacquiao-Morales. Famoso also informed BoxingTalk that on the same card, Julio Caesar Chavez Sr. will make his “Farewell to LA” fight along with his son seeing action as well. IBF Bantamweight Champ Rafael Marquez will also be on the card, establishing an amazing night for Mexican fight fans. Famoso said of his fight with Chavez that even though he is Salvadorian, that “LA is my town and I am going to win...It’s time to become champion again.” Remember Where You Heard It

What got my attention was when they mentioned Julio Caesar. I thought he retired? Or did I misread
Carlos Hernandez vs Jesus Chavez is gonna be real good. However JCC needs to stay outside the ring except when congratulating his son after a victory. This coming from a fan.
It is regukar Showtime. The way Showtime does it is they put the fight on regular Showtime and if you dont have Showtime then they allow you to just purchase the fight without subscribing to the network long term thats what they call Showtime PPV.
Hernandz/Chaves is a good fight. Niether are world class, but both are just below and two tought guys. It could be a canidate for FOY.
R Marquez is always good against anybody like its been said.
JC Chavez is just sad at this point and that hurts me to say it.
I wouldn't buy that card as PPV buy it has some pretty good fights. Carlos Hernandez has never been in a bad fight, Rafeal Marquez verses anybody is interesting and I can't belive JCC is still fighting. I hope they change it to regualar Showtime (but I'm sure they won't)
