Anyone else disssapointed that he never really got to fight some of the better heavyweights? For a while there was all this talk of him perhaps facing Lennow Lewis, Evander Holyfield, and Mike Tyson. Now, Tyson is the only one if could ever possibly face, and that doesn't look like a likley thing to happen. Maybe he'll make a strong comeback and challenge Brustar or Byrd, but, I don't think he's up for at anymore. Anyway, i just wondered how he would fair against some of these other great heavywieghts.
I'm not disappointed. I really don't think Jones had the size or strenght to be a successful heavyweight. I did enjoy watching him kick Ruiz's ass. Middleweight winning a heavyweight crown is an accomplishment no matter how you look at it.
If I have any regrets it's that he didn't win the second Tarver fight and then fight Hopkins again, maybe at 168. That would have been a cool way to go out.
Toney would have massacred RJJ just because he's now a fatass compaigning at HW? Listen, I like Toney and think he has great skills but he's about as much of a heavyweight as RJJ was. The guy beat a SHOT Holyfield, and people are already talking about him in the same breath as Vitali and Lewis. Ridiculous. RJJ beat the crap out of him once and he'd do it again.
OK, I'm taking Toney out. (Although it would have been a great match up if they had a rematch. Their fight was about 10 years ago and went the distance). Cheers!

He should've stayed in the light heavy. He probably still have his hunger. But I'm happy he beat John "The Clinchmeister" Ruiz. I was laughing my ass off when Stone accused the rep of being one sided. He always does. :D
True it is impressive, though Georges Carpentier started fighting at 14 and only 125 lbs and ended up at heavyweight as well. I believe he fought in more weight divisions than any other champion.
Not to slight Jones's accomplishments or anything... :p
