From:THE HARTFORD COURANT
"...New manager Roger Levitt said Roy Jones Jr. is interested in fighting Harding, perhaps as soon as May at the Mohegan Sun.
"Jones wants it as a warmup to a Tarver revenge and Eric would like to give it to him," Levitt said. "I've talked to Jones' people and HBO is very interested."
"Jones, the former undisputed light heavyweight champion, lost his titles to Tarver last May.
Harding dominated Telesco through the first seven rounds.
Then Harding (22-3-1, 7 knockouts) started to lose his zip and Telesco (29-6-1, 24 KOs) smelled opportunity. But Harding's lead was too large to overcome.
Harding, who also returned with a new trainer (Joey Rivera), said he didn't have doubts about taking a tough fight after a prolonged absence.
"I'm one of the best light heavyweights in the world," Harding said. "I don't get anything out of fighting guys with records of 15-25. I want to get back to the top as fast as possible."
Unless his successive KO setbacks reignited his desire to again dominate, RJJ should keep out of fighting again. It's sad to see a once dominant fighter getting his ass kicked by fellows he could have easily handled just a few years back.
hahha :D Hey Im with you, Im a Roy Jones supporter and was pissed with the 2nd fight. Damn Tarver!!! :D
i was shocked when it happened and i almost through an ash tray through my tv screen.
i tend to forget the second fight ;) ....stupid tarver

Mayweather will teach him the art of defense..
I think you totally missed my point. The only reason that Mayweather is even a trainer is because he has a son with enough natural talent to not need a REAL trainer.
Name me a good fighter besides PBF that Mayweather has improved? I think we can already rule out DLH.
im afraid that roy is now messing up his career record, and mayb his spot in legacy (as far as rank)
not a good move by roy. he's old, he got money, plz stay retired. jim lampley who knows roy very close... said roy PLZ RETIRE
lol
There's no reason to think this is true unless you hear Roy saying it. Otherwise, it's best to ignore it.
Roy sped up his decline by damaging his body when coming down in weight and losing muscle mass to do so. The effects of that were physical and mental. Add to that the fact that he is 35, then he will not be looking to change his style.
Roy was the man. He is my favorite fighger ever. However, his best days are behind him and although I would be excited to see him back, it's much more likely that he will lose now then in the past.
BTW...Roy was never "exposed" to have a bad chin. He took good shots vs Tarver and Ruiz, so that would be jumping the gun. I think Tarver caught him with the perfect shot and it just messed him all up from that point on, perhaps. We are not scientists, so let's not pretend to be.
Its not very often you'll hear me say this, but... vB Martin is 100% correct on this one! ;) I think Mayweather is a horrible trainer. Maybe not the worst, but nowhere near the top.
so you want his career over, then?
name 1 top fighter besides PBF that Mayweather has done anything at all to improve? The man had a son that was born with some extrodinary gifts. The only thing he did for Floyd was encourage him. Floyd did the rest.
If you doubt me, what is DLH's record with him as a trainer?
Lemme see.
Gatti (w) - Gatti was fighting at 147, too heavy for him. I think everyone agrees that Gatti is exciting to watch, but lacks real skills.
Castillejo (w) - Who?? Sure, he held a belt, but he had never fought anyone of note.
Vargas (w) - Even after being down 745,000 times against Tito, Vargas dominated the majority of this fight. De La Hoya KO'd him with a perfect punch because Vargas had given up on defense. Also, Vargas hasn't been the same since having his ass handed to him by Tito.
Yori Boy Campos (w) - Yori Boy was about 10 years past his prime for this fight. The fight should never have happened.
Mosely (l) - Disputed loss, but it shouldn't even have been close.
Sturm (w) - But we all know that it was a loss.
Hopkins (l) - No dispute here.
So his record under the tutelage of likely the worst major trainer in boxing is 5-2 (really 4-3).
1 Win against a nobody in Castillejo
2 wins against shot fighters in Vargas and Campos
1 win against a fighter who had no business at 147
1 fraudulent win against a nobody
I would say that RJJ needs to stay the fuck away from Mayweather if he wants to even consider coming back. Not the he should even consider it. He's been exposed, so unless he goes back to fighting corpses as he did during his reign at 175 he won't have much success.
Mayweather will teach him the art of defense..
What Roy Jones Jr. needs is Floyd Mayweather Sr.

I think roy wants to take his win tally to 50 because thats a good number to stop on. however i feel he is not good enough for tarver. He should stop now rather than ruin his record
Harding isnt a slouch. This would be a tough fight for Jones. Especially a comeback fight. Im sure he's getting the desire to fight again. Maybe he will give his corner instructions to stop the fight if he falls off? I know Roy can be overconfident, actually cocky about his abilities. I dont think he stupid though either. Im sure he will have some sort of safety net in place if things go real bad. I know it still doesn't mean he cant get hurt. I think he's going to start being a lot more cautious on how he fights. Like Foreman and Ali in their later years.
Roy can't fight like he could in his prime anymore, but I guess he can still talk like he is in his prime. But the truth to be told is he shouldn't be in there against Tonya Harding, let alone Eric Harding.
ha ha ha Tonya Harding, fuck, i didn't see that one coming :D
