He may have really screwed himself this time. Now he has no decent opponent to make money off of and he has been inactive since August. Not good, Chico. Not good at all.
hey smart guy.
Diaz gave up the belt.
Is he still the IBF champion?
Get a grip on reality.
If you know so much of the situation why say the wrong things?
Ive personally chatted with corrales and have heard it from the horses mouth.
So run along and check on your fantasy sports teams cause you will only be considered knowledgeable on this message board.
Please do fill me in mr know it all.
Why was the fight not made between corrales and castillo?
And since when does a fighter with no strap still be recognized as champion of that sanctioning body?
Have you ever read anything I've written? You fucking idiot. You absolute fool. You blithering, blustering douchebag. Take thirty seconds and read the post IMMEDIATELY ABOVE YOURS. I'm tired of explaining it.
The fight between Corrales and Castillo was not made because Artie Pelullo, a promoter from Philadelphia who's been accused of being involved with the mob, has options on Corrales' future fights. He gained them because he was Freitas' promoter, and Corrales signed them over when the Freitas fight was made. You'll notice Corrales hasn't been able to fight since then. Pelullo is a big, fat leech gumming up the works.
By the way, when a promoter is said to have options, it basically means that he gets money for fights he doesn't have to promote. Pelullo was asking for three hundred thousand dollars, and Showtime had only been willing to put up 1.2 million. Do the math, and you'll find that Corrales would have only taken him about 200,000$ if the fight had been made. Oh wait, how silly of me. I can't expect you to do the math. Just trust my superior intellect.
I would have to agree with this statement of yours, though, "cause you will only be considered knowledgeable on this message board". Well, I partially agree with it. As a matter of fact, I'm considered knowledgeable among most circles, but I can't disagree when you basically say that others here respect my opinion.
Still recognized? How would you be recognized when you dont fight your mandatory and get stripped. Its good you dont keep up with boxing news. And secondly Corrales is moving up sooner or later. He originally was going to fight at 140 when he got out of jail. Made 135 and wanted to clean house at 130. Coralles is 6 ft and the taller man then any of the 140lbers you mentioned. He can successfully move to 147 later in his career as well.
And when asked about moving to 140 he said he would if the money was right but wants to unify 135. He would also kill for a rematch with mayweather. Thank God you arent a boxing writer or reporter.
Hey genius. Mandatories are widely acknowledged as bullshit fights for sanctioning fees. Or have you not been keeping up with boxing news? Trust me, I know all about Diaz' situation, Castillo's situation, Corrales' situation, the other Diaz' situation, hell. I know about Johnson's situation, Jauregui's situation, Clark's, Grigorian's, Freitas'. If you need me to fill you in, let me know.
I did phrase that poorly. What I meant was that people would still recognize Castillo as a unified champion, much the same way they viewed Vernon Forrest, Winky Wright, Kostya Tzyu. It was silly of me not to specify. I should have known you wouldn't have enough imagination to figure out what I meant.
Next time you're gonna quote me and insult me, you may wanna try reading what I wrote. I said that Corrales should move up. I said that right now was not the time to do it.
How do stupid people like you get the balls to attack intelligent people like me?
Its fucked up that he had to give acelinos promoter options and thats what killed this proposed fight with castillo. Now Diaz will get stripped and we wont have a unified champion at 135.
Diego should just fight the winner after taking a tune up and move up to the 140 lb division where he can make more big money fights then at 135.
It's a good thing you're not a manager.
Castillo is the champ at 135. If you need proof, buy yourself an issue of the Ring Magazine. Besides, Diaz would still be recognized as the IBF titlist.
A move to 140 would be the wrong thing for Corrales right now. If he can beat Castillo, then it would be a good idea for him to move up, but only when the dust has settled between Tzyu, Mayweather, Gatti and Hatton. Particularly if Mayweather is champ at that point.
The Castillo fight will probably still get done at some point this year, but he'll have been inactive for much longer than I'm sure that he'd have liked. He can't be blamed for what happened here, and if there was ever a prime example for why a fighter should be involved in his own management, this past year has been it for him. He probably could have been fighter of the year in 2004 if he had been able to make a match in December or November.
He may have really screwed himself this time. Now he has no decent opponent to make money off of and he has been inactive since August. Not good, Chico. Not good at all.
He isnt stuck because he was getting screwed in the first place. He was facing alot of good fighters for chump change.
Its a shame Corrales is one of my favorite fighters to watch. Who knowes though if Tszyu can get done with Hatton early enough he may get a late Fall Showtime fight with the Aussie. Only problem with that is Chicos syle and frame is taylor made for Tszyu.
