I was flipping through 2004's Ring Magazine boxing almanac, and they presented a breakdown of all the fighters that were champions and top contendors. Let's try this:
--------
Felix Trinidad
--------
Oscar De La Hoya W12
Fernando Vargas KO12
William Joppy KO5
James Toney:
Michael Nunn TKO11
Iran Barkley TKO10
Vassiliy Jirov UD12
(Prince Charles Williams fight was damn close to getting mentioned)
His performance against Tim Littles could be in there too. Showed that he had a sense of urgency...awareness.
I thought you meant their best 3 performances, sorry man.
It was one of is best performances I think. Its like career impact, which fights do you think meant the most to his career, putting every factor into perspective.
Jermain Taylor
--------------
William Joppy W12
Bernard Hopkins W12
Bernard Hopkins W12
I can argue that he looked better against Marquez, but in the end its better to have Hopkins on your record than Marquez.
Nooo, not Kelley.
Prince Naseem Hamed
------------------------------------
Vincenzo Belcastro PTS12
Steve Robinson TKO8
Tom Johnson TKO8
Nah, the Kelley fight was very important as it brought him to the main stage in America. Without that, he doesn't become an attratcion in America.
Diego Corrales
--------------
TKO10 Jose Luis Castillo
TKO10 Acelino Freitas
SD Joel Casamayor (should have been an obvious UD, but Casamayor always seems to weasel in one judge in his favor when he gets dominated)
Yeah, although I dont like Leonard, he does have an impressive ledger. It helps put a fighters career in perspective with these lists.
Impressive? That's a slight understatement my friend.
And I don't particularly like the guy either, but what a boxer
:boxing:
Mine would be
TKO10 Corrales
W12 Castillo
W12 Zab Judah
no way gatt is one of his biggest wins
Agreed
How about
Erik Morales
Junior Jones W4
Marco Antonio Barrera W12
Manny Pacquiao W12
A case could be made for the second MAB fight though, due to the fact that the decisions should have gone the opposite way in both the first two fights of the trilogy....
Floyd Mayweather:
TKO10 Diego Corrales
TKO6 Arturo Gatti
W12 Zab Judah (could be wrong about this one)
Mine would be
TKO10 Corrales
W12 Castillo
W12 Zab Judah
no way gatt is one of his biggest wins
Now that is what you call three fucking fights
Yeah, although I dont like Leonard, he does have an impressive ledger. It helps put a fighters career in perspective with these lists.
I'd put Hurtado in place of the first Mitchell fight. That was for the interim title and his first big step back up after the Phillips loss. Hurtado had only lost to Whitaker at the time, who he was easily beating before getting caught late against the ropes and KO'd. Huge win for Kostya.
That fight showed alot of vulnerability in Tszyu, however. I think that since it was a unification bout, and he did stop a respected titlist, it was a significant bout.
