Update: The fight will take place at 130 pounds. Both sides have agreed to terms.
----------
It's official. Fightnews.com can confirm that superstars Erik “El Terrible” Morales and Manny Pacquiao will "Bring it On" Saturday, March 19 at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena in a 12 round super featherweight bout. The fight will be distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View. The fighters will discuss this match-up at a press conference to be held in Los Angeles. The fight came together after purse demands by Juan Manuel Marquez torpedoed a February 26 rematch with Pacquiao. Pacquiao and Morales were originally slated to fight in the summer. The card will be promoted by Top Rank in association with Murad Muhammad.
i agree with you and will attest to your observation. barrera just won't give up because his heart was as big as mexico. pacquiao puts all his hearts, too whenever he fights. so even if morales gives his all and throw and hit everything, it's the power that will decide the outcome of this fight. my question, who's got the hardest punch of the two? the answer is pacquiao, that's why in my humble opinion, he will win.
once Pac felt like he's gonna kill EM with his own fists, victory is asured.
i think i already heard similar argument before mab-pac, that mab is this and that... and then what happened?
Janno, my friend. MAB was everything that was said "before" his fight with Pac. I think we should believe that his very shitty performance was at least in part due to training interruptions (as MAB claimed). I've accepted that the injury to Pac's left foot affected his peformance against Marquez (as Pac has claimed). They both have excuses, it's just that one guy (MAB) got TKO'd because of his "training interruptions", Pac just wasn't able to finish-off Marquez because of his "sore foot".
Well Janno, who knows what kind of Morales we'll get. I was shocked with the Morales that showed up in the 3rd Barerra fight. I think he won't let his loss take him down however. We don't give Morales enough credit for his ability to brawl. He CAN take it to you. He almost had Barerra hurt in the 11th when they were brawling and almost had him down twice in the 12th when the fight was an all out brawl as well.
pfffft... you call that almost KD by Morales? cmon man, you know it was a slip when MAB lost his balance there. i never saw Morales doin' such performance in their fight. peace. ;)
i hate morales..but i still think he's a class above pac and will beat him or possibly ko him late...morales takes fighters like pac to school and finished them off,pac cant box..he comes with a lot of pressure and power...but thats something morales is good at beating...so hell yeah it gonna be a great fight...for the first time..i really do hope sends morales to the canvas and hard
_____
so for sure pac/jmm is off???...i bet jmm will take on winner or something
well he fails to win over the pressure and power of MAB. and MAB's is just far much less than Pac. EM had never faught anybody like Pacman. none of them had except MAB and JMM.
Man I never thought this fight would happen. I thought Erik was going up in weight to 135 lbs before fighting Pac. Shame the fight with Marquez didn't go through. I really wanted to see if he did figure out Pac. Oh well, out with old in with the new. I can't wait for the fight to happen. :D
yup and Morales is gonna get pimp slapped just like Susan "Milk Jugs" Sarandon....ha ha :D
Yeah something like that. Pimp slap then he's gonna get raped in the you know where. :D
Oh damn...In my opinion Morales has less of a chance of beating Pacman than JMM does. Morales may have a good chin but Pacman throws "murder bombs". Morales is dead man walking.
"Dead man walking" starring Sean penn and Susan Sarandon. :D
interesting.... i gotta check out his other fights. i've only seen morales fight barrera and no one else. any suggestions on what might be a good one to look for??
My personal faves are :
Morales-Ayala
Morales-McCullough
Morales-Chi
Morales-Hernandez
Check out his fights against Junior Jones, Paulie Ayala, and In-Jin Chi. He dominated Ayala...KO'd Jones (who has beaten Barerra badly twice), and had his hands full in an exciting fight with In-Jin Chi.
cool.... I will check those out. Thanks OG.
I agree about people thinking that Morales would be the better guy against Barerra in the last fight. MAny thought he'd just overpower and outclass him.
I think you are a bit off however when you say Erik hates to box. Morales hates to box....AGAINST BARERRA. I think he just hates MAB so much he feels inclined to make the fight into a raw slugfest. He is one of the better pure boxers in boxing when he actually decides to do it. He reminds me of Thomas Hearns in a way. When he boxes he can be masterful but he really loves to mix in the brawling whenever possible.
Exactly.
He's a good boxer, if and when he decides to be scientific/tactical in a fight. But you know what, from what I see in my El Terrible fight collection...his boxing is just 'sporadic' - he can't/unable to stick to it, he'll be boxing in a few rounds and eventually he'll be drawn into a brawl...it's like he just throws boxing out of the window and goes to war. Not just against Barrera.

I was disappointed in the Morales that showed on the third fight. Almost as if he'd rather be somewhere else that night, not a scared look... he looked almost bored.
Agreed. He looked lethargic and unmotivated. I hope he'll be into the Pac fight so people will get some piece of mind on who the best of this 126-130 lot is.
This is exactly what we all thought of prior to MAB-EM 3. But, we were wrong, Barrera was quicker and Morales didn't stick to boxing - he slugged it out (against the advise of his corner)...just as he always does. Morales hates boxing, he wants to fight. That's just the perfect style for the PacMan, they're made for each other. It's not gonna be a tactical fight, Pacquiao is not a technician - he's a fighter. One of this fighters will go down.
We will see.
Everybody thought he was the bigger puncher than Chavez, Hernandez and Barrera...but, he didn't stop them actually.
Let's turn the tables here, let's see how El Terrible's chin will hold up against Pac's lightning-quick left straight.

Well I guess you're right, I think Barrera can brawl alright. But I'm inclined to give Pac more chances of surviving a brawl and hurting his opponent because I've seen what happened to his opponents when they decide to take it to him (not that I'm a big fan of his). In MAB-EM 3, I think that part of the reason why MAB almost went down in the last rounds is due to exhaustion. He was clearly the more active between the two especially in the early rounds.
I agree that Barerra was very tired...but so was Erik. And furthermore...I think it shows what kind of fight we'll see from Erik if this fight with Pac does go the distance. Erik took an early beating from Barerra but was still strong enough to almost put him down and hurt him in the 12th. Both guys will certainly have to be in top form...I'm sure they will be.
