their have been many guys who had good chins in boxing...but not many who just had a disregard and didnt give a shit if they got hit or not...hagler and holyfield are the man 2 that come to my mind..i think holyfield is the toughest fighter of all time...and dont say marciano because he didnt get hit by the big hiters that holyfield has gotten hit by
How the hell can you start a "toughest fighters" thread and say "don't say Marciano"?
marciano was getting hit by 185 pound men in the infant years of boxing...holyfield has gotten by men like foreman lewis bowe tyson..although hurt...he still fought back
both Hagler and Holyfield where tough. but Hagler was not being hit by big HW's such as Bowe, tyson, LL either. Holy is in my opion the toughest ever. behind him i would have to go with Hagler,JCC, and Rocky, but as it was said before, Rocky wasn't fighting big hitters like Holyfield.
Hagler, Marciano, and Holyfield never quit. Chavez, on the other hand...

It's hard to declare just one fighter as the toughest there ever was. There's simply no concrete basis to judge a fighter's toughness. However, i do believe Joe Grim should be mentioned.
Most of the fighters that were already mentioned (Hagler, Holyfield, LaMotta, Marciano), they were all tough as nails and never stopped coming. However, unlike Grim, they had skill or power. Grim pretty much had nothing. He was a mediocre fighter who only won 3 of his 101 bouts. Still, he was possibly the toughest son of a bitch to ever grace the earth.
As a below average middleweight, he fought the likes of Philadelphia Jack O'Brien, Bob Fitzsimmons, Joe Gans, Jack Blackburn, Jack Johnson, Johnny Kilbane, and Battling Levinksy. Sure, he never beat any of them, but he was never stopped by these far superior and often much larger opponents. Imagine being a defenseless, skill-less, and powerless middleweight against monsters like Fitzsimmons, O'Briend and Johnson. Grim was one tough dude.
Marvin Hagler was the toughest fighter ever. When Holyfield would say he wasn't hurt, people questioned that. Nobody questioned whether Hagler was ever hurt in a fight. Holyfield was tough, but Hagler was superhuman.
Holyfield definitely in the "elite tough guys" group with Ali,Hagler,Marciano,Tyson etc
What how can you mention Tyson??? He cant take being given a beating.
My vote goes to Marcianno. I cant think of another man on this planet that could have fought for a couple rounds after their nose split in half.
I have been trying to find that picture showing the damage to Rocky's nose. How in the world cam anyone look at that and imagine that it is a shot of the WINNER?!
One tough sonofabitch!
