None of us know for sure about the real struggles to put fights together....
But, what's your opinion on Mayweather's future ?
Is this guy just not worth it (high risk, not a whole lot of reward) to the other marketable fighters around him...
or is Floyd overestimating his own value (that's the "stupid" part) ?
1)I think you are overrating Gatti's popularity nation wide and 2)if the networks can't deliver a Floyd v. Zoo fight than Floyd will have too wait 2 or 3 years maybe longer to become a champion again because he can't become any kind of champ in my book until he meets Zoo.
He will fight Zoo, but that will be after the Gatti fight. Also what makes Zoo the real champ. I dont argue that he is but at the same time these are new guys at 140 and he hasnt beat any of them. The guys who are at 140 now are better then the guys in the past. He hasnt faught Floyd, Harris, Gatti, Hatton, or Cotto. Also I'm not overating Gatti's popularity. I alread said that he is nowhere near Oscar, but he is the only guy who can go PPV at 140. The only other person that Floyd could go PPV with is Zoo, but the money would be much less

avoided. Gatti and his people are running scared
So please enlighten me here, is Floyd choosing Gatti for the fans he would pick up with a victory or is it for the money or both?
I would bet you that if Floyd fights Zoo that the paycheck would be earily similiar to the paycheck that he would recieve for fighting Gatti...if I am not mistaken Zoo fought a washed up Leija to in Australia and sold his venue out as well....Tell Floyd to go to Australia or Russia to fight Zoo...my point is and if it is off base please give me your guestamation how much money are we talking about? Floyd is choosing Gatti because he is going to make how much??? And he is not yet interested in Zoo because as you say 1)he won't snag some casual boxing fans that watch Gatti fights and 2)make a lot less money...
I think he would make more money than you or I realize if he decided Zoo was who he wanted. You make it sound like Floyd is going to make far more money fighting Gatti than Zoo, I am not an expert in contracts or for that matter know very little about them overall but I bet that the money difference is peanuts...say Floyd can get 1 million more which we both don't know about, is that worth it? It may be if he can attract casual boxing fans, but I seriously dont he attracts that many on a gatti payperview card...remember all three ward/gatti's were free, no one has ever paid for a gatti fight. So 1 million more and he attracts a few more fans, or he becomes undisputed 140 champ and makes 5 million instead of six...hmmmm
Fighters like Vargas. Hopkins and Mosley pray/call out/beg a guy like Oscar to fight them because they then recieve a paycheck that can reach double digits in the millions if things go well...if they don't fight a guy like Oscar Bernard ends up fighting Eastman for a mil or two and Shane gets to fight Winky for a mil, both fights you can make the case are tougher fights than a match with Oscar....
This is simply not the case with Floyd, Gatti is not Oscar, he's not Felix, although he is a bifg name I am not convinced that people will shell out a lot of money for apyperview... Floyd makes in my opinion almost the same either way, if we were talking 7million for Gatti and 1.8million for KT I would be with you, but DLT I think we both have an idea of the money invloved and we both vary quite a bit as to how much that really is...
Read post #14. It's not just about Gatti and Zoo straight up although it would still be a big difference, but you have to factor in the two different networks. It basicly cuts everthing in half. It would be alot more different then 1 million. I even here Zoo calling out Gatti because he knows thats a big money fight even with the two different networks. So imagine how big a fight with Gatti would be if you are on the same network. Dont get me wrong, Gatti is definatly not Oscar, but he's the closest one to him around 140

What payperview card has Gatti ever headlined? You may be right with your theory but it is just that...a theory...Gatti has never headlined a payperview card so there is no telling how much money it will bring in.
Zoo never calls out Floyd because he is the long standing undisputed champion, Floyd has been in the division about a week and a half...why should he call out Floyd, it's not like Floyd automatically means big money-I would bet that HAtton in Manchester brings Zoo just as much money if not more than Floyd in vegas would.
Dude, you are making my point for me. Zoo isnt calling Floyd out because he would make more money fighting Hatton in England, just like Floyd would make more fighting Gatti in AC. That's what my point was from the jump. It's about the money. What post of mine did you read because that's exactly what I said.
Theres a huge difference. Zoo isnt nowhere near the name in the U.S. that Gatti is, and a Zoo fight wont gain Floyd more mainstream fan's for future PPV fights like Gatti will. Floyd-Gatti is a good mainstream fight while Floyd-Zoo is mostly for the hardcore boxing fans. I remember watching the Sports Reporters on ESPN and on Around The Horn after the Gatti-Ward fight and they were talking about it. Do you think they would talk about Zoo. Then you have to also take a big chunk out of that because it is different networks which means they would have to split the money. It's hard to do different networks unless your name is Tyson or DeLahoya. Why do you think Zoo never calls out Floyd's name either. Zoo said all he wanted was big fights but he never says Floyd's name because he knows right now there isnt enough money in it. After Floyd get's a PPV with Gatti then it would be different

Gatti's fighting a used-up Leija in the A.C. Boardwalk Hall....The place is pretty big.
Gatti will sell it out....Tszyu wouldn't.
Regular folks, a decent amount, do indeed know who Arturo Gatti is.
I disagree.....Tsyzu is just as much of a household name as Gatti is. If you know boxing....you know Gatti and Tszyu. If you don't know boxing.....you know Tyson and DLH and Gatti and Tsyzu are a mobster and a place to take your kids on Sunday.
Where are you from because I said in the U.S. Zoo doesnt fill up the house like Gatti does
I understand why Floyd wants Gatti thats a no brainer. What I am saying is that currently he is not willing to fight the best...I would love to know the numbers dollar wise; the difference between a Gatti v. Mayweather and a Mayweather v. Zoo. It is not like we are talking Tyson or Delahoya money here, how much more money do you think Floyd will make off of Gatti as opposed to Zoo???...Why dosn't Floyd go out and beat the man and then he can sit back and control the whole scene...just like at 135....ah but 140 is different, it is far different.
I want to know what people think...dollar wise what is the difference in paycheck for Mayweather.....if he fights Gatti or if he fights Zoo...How much more is Gatti really going to bring in? (cmon the money in my opinion (my opinion means shit) is probably quite comparable, the real difference is that one fight is a cake walk and one fight isn't)Theres a huge difference. All of you are crazy. This is about money and fame, nothing else. Gatti brings the most money and the most fame. Do you really think that if Harris was the man with the big money then Floyd wouldnt be after him? Do you think that if Zoo was the man with the big money then Floyd wouldnt be after him?

Your right, none of us know how difficult it is to get marquee prize fighters to agree on terms that lead to war. Floyd is definately worth it, he is easily the most talented fighter in the game right now however I think for the first time in his career he himself understands that the waters that he is in are untested and there is serious reason for caution.
Floyd moved up to 135 and in his mind thought it was no big deal...140 is different and I think there is a reason that he is not clamoring for a fight with the man, KT. Corley, Brusseles, Gatti....Since Floyd has become a champion he has never taken a three fight road like this...there is zero danger in any of these fights...For the first time in his career I believe Floyd has a few doubts.
As for Floyd overestimating his value...of course he is, he is his fathers son! Thats exactly what Mayweather's do, they overestimate there value...However I don't think money is the number 1 issue when it comes to KT, I think it is health-to beat Zoo you have to go through hell to do it, there is no other way I don't care how slick and talented you are...Floyd so far is not ready to go through hell...he is waiting to see if there are any alternate routes.
Floyd Jr. - Being avoided, or being stupid ?
He is very good I'll give him that, I don't think he'd beat up on the cream of the 140 division, he much slicker but I think the likes of Zoo, Hatton and Cotto have the power to trouble him.I agree wioth you, but I think Floyd is simply too fast and skilled to be beaten by any of them and I actually think he will knockout cotto and tko hatton, Tszyu has the power to end it early for floyd but once he gets hit and scared like he did against corralles he will step up the pace and outclass tszyu for the remainder of the fight. I know Tszyu knocked out Judah and Mitchell, but they are both southpaws with suspect defense...
I think he is a top 5 at 140, but not the best. However, he thinks he should get in the $2 mil range for each fight, and he is pricing himself out of some good fights.
He will get bored in 2005 and fight someone good.
Well the thing I dont understand is that Floyds main thing was to always get the fan recognition and notoriaty he felt he deserved. He said he wanted to headline ppv's and everything else. But he goes from all that to fighting Brussels. Maybe this is part of his master plan. I we cant forget that when he was at the lighter weights he was fighting everyone in sight (manfredy, hernandez, castillo, chavez, ect.)
