I tend to believe you're only as good as your last fight. Williams fought an in shape hard hitting 38 year old ex-champion that hadn't fought in a year. Williams stays cool against the rampaging Tyson for three rounds then piles on the pressure to ko Tyson.
Vitali becomes champion by fighting an out of shape golf player that hadn't fought in a year. Vitali looks nervous everytime Sanders goes for him but after eight rounds the ref eventually saves Corrie.
Out of the two performances I think Williams was the more impressive and faced the tougher opponent. I know all about the knee injury but still feel that the whole thing has been inflated after all when your meal ticket gets ko'd by a guy that was considered a journey at best and a bum at worst you better have a good story if your going to sell your man in the future.
Williams late ko or points win.
Danny Williams has the skills, but more importantly, I think he now has the confidence to pull off the upset;
I'll take Williams to stop Vitali in the mid/late rounds.
Danny is who Sanders should make his comeback against, Danny thinks he can take a punch, and against Corrie he would take plenty of them, more than against VK probably.
I have to say I watched the Vitali V Corrie Sanders fight and was totally amazed at just how slow Vitali was, I had only seen him fight once before and could not remember him being so flat and slow, he showed little imagination and creativity in his footmovement and combinations in fact I think 1,2 was as far as his combinations went!
I would have said Vitali sould win easily but having seen that performance I have to say Williams has got a shot, Danny can string punches topgether and has got a bit of pop in his shots. Vitali will probably win but it just underlined to me the current state of heaveyweight boxing.........awful.
i pick vitally by mid rounds ko. i haven't seen williams fight really. but if all i had to go on was the tyson fight... i say vitaly. heres why........tyson, a way shot out fighter, had williams in trouble. i know most of you will say that tyson has mad power, well guess what, so does vitaly. not only that but vitaly is fresh and not washed up. vitaly will go down one day but i just don't think it is going to be this time.
I smell an upset. Williams tko 4
Like horseracing, I must follow the form. Klit battled against an obviously overweight and sluggish Corrie Saunders, before fatigue defeated Corrie. He smashed Saunders with his best, but couldn't put him down.
Williams took Tyson's early best punches. Admittedly, he was shaken and a bit wobbly. Who wasn't ever wobbly from Tyson's best?
I see Williams eventually getting a few good ones in round about the 4th to 7th rounds and Klit being beaten. Either points, or cuts stoppage.
Even though Williams beat Tyson, Tyson did have him wobly in the first round (first or second anyway). In the past he would have closed the show. Tyson is not the same fighter he used to be and that is why. Now imagine if klit were in his shoes? He would have finnished the fight abruptly as he did with Brewster (i think that was that fat black guy's name) I think Klit's intelligence and ability to size up Williams is why he is almost garuanteed a victory not his size. I think this battle is more of a chess match between a nerd and bully.
I know everyone hates to hear about Sanders, because he came in to the VK fight big as a house and all that, but IMO he still has much better hand and foot speed than Williams, and the only time he landed on VK is when VK stood in front of him. I don't see Williams rushing VK with any real success, I think it will go into the late rounds, like many of you, because VK is a pretty cautious fighter, but I think if VK doesn't knock Williams out, they will probably stop the fight due to Williams taking too many punches. Just an opinion.
From what I see coming out of the Williams camp they are wanting Danny to jump right on Vitali from the start. Williams has a tendency to leave himself open so unless he catches Vit with a big shot I see a quick knockout if Williams employs that strategy. If Williams comes out swinging for the fences I see a Tyson in his prime sort of short night with a big Vitali K.O. That is unless Williams lands a huge shot that hurts Vit like he has never been hurt before. In that case then Williams might have a shot.
The Williams camp will give out false rumours to throw the Vitali camp off scent of the real strategy. In a big fight like this it would be suicidal to tell your attack plan. On the other hand they may be talking the truth and hoping Vitali will think it's a bluff. Your right BTW Williams can leave himself open, he always starts off slow sometimes too. He is a warm up kind of fighter and the more he warms up the more confident he gets.
