Witter is pissed...

11.17.04 - Junior Witter has responded with indignation to suggestions that Floyd Mayweather Junior will face Lovemore N'dou, Stevie Johnston or Muhamat Abdulaev on his upcoming HBO date. “Floyd is letting himself down by considering opponents of this calibre,” began Junior. “I don’t like to say I told you so, but I predicted he might when, earlier this month, I offered to step up and face him on January 22nd. He is also letting down fight fans and HBO; I am surprised they are even considering showing him against one of these three. “Lovemore N’dou is nothing but a solid yet limited loser; he has been beaten in two of his last five fights. “Stevie Johnston is a blown up lightweight who hasn’t fought for a year since he got put down three times and stopped. “And as for Muhamat Abdulaev, well you can go to sleep on his record it is so padded. Plus Emmanuel Clottey knocked him out four fights ago. “I am just not sure how someone who considers himself one of the best pound for pound even thinks about fights like this. “Especially when I have thrown my hat in the ring.” Witter added: “It seems that Floyd has suddenly turned a bit shy. I know for a fact he heard my challenge to him, but it seems he is even scared to look in my direction. “It’s obvious to me that he doesn’t want to risk a big pay-day against Gatti by getting in the ring with a European champion who has taken out his last fifteen opponents. “He knows I can knock him out. “But that isn’t the mark of a true champion, it’s the mark of someone who doubts their own ability.”

Given you are the "British Champ", I'll take it that you're biased because I'd pick N'dou and Abdullaev to beat Witter easy. Oh and he has been tested...and he was found wanting. He ran against Judah and STILL didn't make it past round 4....pathetic. He's one of the least liked fighters in Britain so I don't think many people big him up because of blind national pride but he has forced people to over here to give him a bit of respect by what he's done since the Zab fight (which he lost UD so I don't know what you mean by didn't make it past 4).

i never said i was a fan of witter just thought it was interesting what he was saying..i mean atleast he's looking for good fights now..unlike hatton who has 30plus wins and not beaten any good opponents yet..so late in his career

Junior Witter should get real, I cant believe he's calling these fighters!! He should take a look at his own record before knocking anyone else!! Its possible Witter could give Mayweather a better fight than them all but he's do nothing to prove it! IMO Witter will get schooled by Mayweather anyway, and only has a punchers chance. The only way Witter can win is if Mayweather backed up and let Witter land shots, basically Mayweather would be pretty dumb to let himself lose to Witter!!

The thing I have noticed about Chop Chop is that he is one of these fighters that dazzles against underclass opposition, he looks fantastic against average opponents and you think he's going to do it at the very top but he just falls short.

dont agree at all he wouldnt live with any of the three you mentioned. you talk about padded records jeez, chop chop has only been in with two world class light wlters and lost both times.

thanks mate. I just am not convinced by Mayweather at light welter yet. I think if witter can walk through floyds shots and he gets to him he could cause him some problems. Floyd while being a master boxer doesnt bang hard enough at light welter imo and might find it difficult with a seasoned heavy hitting light welter like witter. I admit the euro fighters he has been beating lately are not that fantastic but he has to defend his title, he is outclasisng some reasonble fighters in 2 rounds, not top notch opponenets but reasonable. I think he needs a big test. Floyds is a real class operator dont get me wrong I just dont think he is ready for the divisions elite on the basis he outpointed a slow and distinctly average de marcus corley. witter would be a good test in my opinion. And hatton bashes witter inside 6. Doesnt mean to say Hatton would beat floyd, it just means that Witter has pissed hatton off so much he would be spitting feathers should he finally get to Junior! Chop is better than all you guys think. What's so wrong with losing back to back fights to Floyd and Zab. Trust me if it were Gatti, Cotto, Hatton, or Harris they would have two losses also

warren doesnt weant to help witter in anyway they had a very accrimonious splkit, its also a nohign fight for hatton with a lot of risk and little reward, why fight witter when you are a mandatory? (rhetorical q!)

I competely agree that Witter was Moradde Hakkar like against Zab Judah, it was a shameful performance....However since that fight he has appeared to change as a fighter. Granted I understand he fights guys like you and me but he has been knocking them stiff, before the Judah fight he was a runner...so I give him credit for changing things after the Judah debacle. He was on tv once since the Judah fight and he looked dangerous, again every guy he has fought since Judah is an unknown but he looked like a different guy. I give Junior one more chance, I would love too see him in against Hatton why has that not happened? Ricky got exposed a bit my Eamonn, maybe his people feel that witter would do even better? Shame on you witter for you Hakkar performance, congrats to you on your change in style...now you have one more chance...at least by me.

so outboxing judah and losing a points deicsion at 7 days notice when relatively a novice is a disgrace huh! he also is not the same fighter, he was a pure boxer then, no w he has gone to ingle he is plating his feeet and is far more fo come forward fighter than he ever was. I concur he didnt put a very good show on but not worthy of being ostracised fomr the world scene for years on end. surely he has served his penance by now.

sorry i dont agree, maybe he had a mental collapse I dunno have you watched the fight? he hardly ran like Haajkar against hopkins, he gave judah hell for the fiurst few rounds then boxed off the back foot. he just wasnt crowd pleasing it wasnt like he quit in the ring for crying out loud he just boxed the wrong fight. at 7 days notice. I did see the fight. It was under Tyson-Savarese. & it still remains one of the most pathetic challenges to a world crown that I've ever seen. There have been fighters who came into a fight on short notice & given a maximum effort. No excuse for what he did.

I don't care what Junior Witter can do in the ring. All I know is that he had a title shot, & ran like a thief during most of the fight. This puts a huge question mark on him.....What kind of real fighter does what he did ? an underprepared done.

i too believe that witter is a pretty good fighter that can pose problems to all light-welters. But lets face it, at least Hatton has beaten the Ben Tackies and the Vince Phillips' of this world. Witter hasn't beaten anyone even approaching the top 20. so who does he think he is calling out Mayweather.

He then went on his bike and was outpointed. he has sparked 15 oppoenents straight is ranked 3 by the WBC and is European champ. He hasnt been fiully tested but would give floyd a decent fight. He is dangerous, and pwerful and also chairman of the "who needs him club". Do yur research guys b4 slating a fighter. He would give mayweather a better fight than any of the three mentioned. JPW, good to see that your keeping the integrity of the british in tact, I see you have got your facts spot on about Witter, however I have to say I do believe that Mayweather would eat him alive but certainly no worse than the origional sugestions. To be honest I have Witter about 8-12 in the division but I would really like to see him in with somebody half good even, you can't deny that he has been beating up real bums for some time now, they complain that Hatton fights has-beens and average opponents but he makes Hatton's opponrents look like world beaters
