....at Gatti's WBC title if he had beaten Leija?? I don't think he would have and I think that Gatti would of had no choice but to face Mayweather. Besides, I think Gatti is gonna knock Leija out. Leija was dropped by Bojado and I'm sure that Gatti hits harder than Bojado and he throws more punches.
But if Gatti did end up facing Bojado, how would that fight play out?
Bojada is no doubt a very talented fighter but hasn't been able to get over the hump of being just good. I was really didn't see much energy in him during the loss to Leija. I know Leija is a tough veteran but Bojada should have dominated the bout. Bojada and Judah have a lot in common. Two talented boxers who haven't quite matured yet.
My view is simple regarding a Gatti/Bojado fight. Bojado is the quintessential front runner. He folds like a roll of fat on his belly when a fighter doesn't go anywhere when he hits them. Gatti seemingly loves it when a fighter doesn't go anywhere when he hits them- it means he gets to take more pain. 3 guys and a 12 gauge couldn't keep Gatti down. So, Bojado comes out hard, Gatti gets viciously beaten for 3 rounds and then puts Bo-Lardo away around 9.
That boy has loads of potential...he just need's to regroup. He should get with or stick with ( I hear conflicting stories of if he's with McGirt or not) with Buddy McGirt and go back to his old style (while not COMPLETELY throwing caution to the wind!!!) :D He use to be vicious, but didnt practice defense at all. He need's to get back to that but use a little defense next time around!
Damn right tracylee
;)
I was suprised to see Bojado's lack of intensity in that fight. I thought he would be able to KO Leija. Why the hell did he go with mayweater for that fight is beyond me. The S.O.B didn't bother to even come to the fight. Oscar had him on some sort of retainer or something. What a load of sh*t
I think he's through. I mean, I know he's young, and he seems to have all the right tools, but he looks like Tommy Gomez to me, or an Alex Garcia. They looked great fighting the right level of opponent, but they couldn't take that step up. If he can't beat a 38 year old fighter who started out as a featherweight, then he just isn't meant to be.
I think the problem is that he's just gone about everything the wrong way. When he first got started he was that amazingly aggressive fighter. But he didn't know what to do with a guy who didn't back down. Then he tried to use defense, but he took that too far. May I remind you that after the loss to Juan Carlos Rubio he went the distance with all but two of his opponents, as opposed to pre-Rubio, when he had knocked all of them out? He should get out of this sport while he's still young, before he gets hurt, because he's never gonna turn this thing around.
I think Roach would be a good trainer for Bojado. He's great at devolping a fighter's hand speed and accuracy. Bojado already has good hand speed and I think that Roach could really improve his technique. I don't know though. McGirt would be good in helping him develop better defense which would help him in the long run..
you nailed it buddy
Mayweatether isnt right for him becuase he over emphasizes defense
Buddy wants to change all his fighters to counter punchers
Freddy would try to add a lil defense
but he would concentrate much more on his offense
he relizes what fighters are capable of
Ex. in JMM vs Pac
pac started getting hit alot more
he told him to try some movement but he was emphatic about how pac needed to mount more of an attack
i think right now out of the name trainers
roach is deal for panchito
roach is good with fast handed hard hitting guys
I agree with going with McGirt. Bojado looked like he was afraid to let his hands go...especially after the knockdown (maybe he didn't think Leija was hurt). I liked the old Bojado...he can still be a good fighter though. Leija's a tough old bird and Bojado just wasn't on his game that night.
Ya. I felt bad for him, since he had to change trainers mid way through his training camp. The kid can fight and should still be considered as a good prospect. His comp has been better than some of the other 140 prospects (Salita, Malinaggi, "Speedy" Gonzales)

Roach is a great trainer too and would compliment Bojado's style . I like McGirt cause like you mentioned he is great at improving defensive skills in a fighter WHILE still keeping their offense very active....like Gatti! Bojado use to fight like Gatti did when he was still young; with it all in the ring and never backing down, etc... McGirt taught him to do all that and use defense at the same time, in other words, BOX! But I will say that either Roach or McGirt would do wonders compared to Mayweather :)
agreed. Mayweather sucks as a trainer. Look what he did to DeLaHoya.....heh heh

I may be just one in a mere few, but I dont think Mayweather is right for anyone! I listen to that man in the corner giving instructions and I'm always thinking "what the hell" ??? I've never seen any merit to what he's telling those guy's and I've yet to see his "worth" as a trainer. His own son wont use him as a trainer (maybe for personal reasons, I dont know) and that tells me alot! ;)
Little Francisco has the right attitude and weapons, and is still so young, with the right trainer and right training regimen, etc... I still think he can go far. I wont give up on him yet :)

I agree. I think that Mayweather was not the right trainer for Bojado. Francisco is an offensive fighter and works best when he is moving forward and throwing quick, sharp combos, not using the Mayweather shoulder roll defense and counter punching. I hope he gets back on track because the 140 divsion is fucking HOT right now and there are a lot of great possible match ups.

I don't know why, but I always liked Bojado. Even though everything tells me to write him off as a waste that dosen't train properly. If he would just train harder and get the hell away from Mayweather he could go far and give alot of good fights. Mayweather wants him to fight ultra-defensive....wrong for a guy whos best asset was his offence. He needs to get with a trainer who is going to teach him the right way to use his strengths and add a bit of depth.......not totally change the way he fights.

after seeing him lose to Leija, I dont know what to make of him now. He has promise

Now that would be a good fight! I like Bojado, and wish he would go back to his earlier style, but I LOVE Gatti and just dont think Panchito is ready for someone that hit's like Gatti does...not just yet ;)
