It has been recently confirmed that Monte Barrett will now be facing owen "what the heck" beck in a wbc eliminator fight on don kings november 13th ppv card, the winner of this fight will now move onto to face the winner of vitali klitschko vs danny williams after their bout on december 13th.
This squashes any rumors circulating barrett vs jirov and puts monte back in the picture for his fight for the title. Also adding to this puts aside the fact rydell booker and james toney recently had an eliminator bout for the wbc title, with james light out toney out with an injury he rightfully gives up his wbc number 1 ranking to the winner of the barrett vs beck showdown....
That's pretty sweet Iron. I loved when Eubank beat Benn in their first fight. Eubank/Toney would have surely been an interesting fight.
Cheers gringo :)
He was the sort of person/fighter you either loved or hated.
And Eubank/Toney would have been a counterpunch chessmatch :)
Wow thats the coolest thing i have heard all day. Just answer me one thing please. :D Did Eubank think he could have beaten Toney? Thinking of Eubank again makes me want to see some of his old fights before the Watson fight.
Cheers man
And he admitted he probably wouldn't have beaten him circa 93-94 but still would have fought to his best and he think's he (Toney)lacks class for being the way he is.( I asked him what he thought about his post fight rant after Holy), I've got most of his fight's and it's great to watch them again!!
After the weekend I've been watching a shed load of my Tito one's - getting that Tito fever again :D
Just going back to Eubank while he was chatting to people and signing stuff, and older Jamaican man approached him and was telling him he did himself proud by giving alot of time talking to kids and his charity work and so on, he was very matter of factly and genuine and I swear Eubank looked choked as they shook hands, very humble indeed.
So is that fight televised instead of Rahman/Meehan or Holyfied/Donald? Or is it not televised? Or has something come up in one of the 4 fights that were listed on the canvas of the Trinidad/Mayorga fight
Don is airing like 5-6 fights it is his ppv not hbo's so expect a borefest and very lackluster events....
They have some decent fighters but majority are fighting the lackluster opponents...Ehh scratch that the whole card stinks worse then a ron's porta-potty after a state fair.
I met him at our local theatre, he was doing 'An evening with Chris Eubank' mini tour (I think to see if people actually came out to see him).
It was very interesting i loved it from start to finish. Basically a in depth talk about his life and career and what he want's to do in future. He did two question sessions too and mine was the second question asked, basically what he thought of Toney and whether he felt he would of beat him back in the early 90's when they were both champs.
I had to refer to him too that classic bit of t.v during the promotion of Benn Vs Eubank II, when Toney was on via sat link and he insulted everybody and their momma's :D.
He was very humble, respectful and seemed totally genuine about the people that came out to see him to show him love. My wife and I was well pleased with how the night went, I got a few photo's and a wicked signed pic of him vs Watson I, all in all a good day!!!
Sorry to everyone else who isn't interested :p

:D Hey thats cool, i would love to meet Chris Eubank. He is why the word cool was invented. Where did you meet him? Did you chat with him?
I'll apologise to Spinks now for doing this in his thread but i must know. :D

i dont think barrett would last more than two rounds with vitali
I'd probably give him 4 or 5, he'll have to keep putting him down before he stay's, and remember he went 7 with baby klit (before he lost his confidence), and he does have slightly faster hands
Sure is! :D
Hey if he was a comedian then surely he would of replied with a witty retort by now! :p

Wez you've risen to the bait LOL, i'm surprised man i always thought you were as cool as a cucumber
:) I felt like it today, we cannot be cool all the time. ;) Besides he even said he thinks he's a comedian so i am waiting for his extremely funny response.
..stay upset.
HA HA HA it's the comedian. I remember you very well, you were the asshole who cried and threw a paddy when i simply voiced my opinion about the Klitschko brothers. :D I see you are still bitter about our exchange.
BTW how is your boyfriend Wladimir doing after his fight against TOS? :p

The match might of been made to force the big klit to fight more 'names', both Jirov and Barret are known quantities to the worldwide audience and give it their all, as is Toney and if the fight course should of been Klit Vs williams and the winner vs Toney, then the wbc are probably just looking for sanctioning fee's to force either Jirov or Barret onto Klit (or williams) while Toney is out til next summer-ish
 Who the hell is Beck??? Don King is so full of shit giving Monte Barrett and Beck??? the chance to fight for the crown. I'm so upset for James Toney to be honest, a fight against Vitali would have been make or break for him. I hope he gets his opportunity in the future.
