I have the utmost respect for him because he was knocked out twice in devastating fashion but had the balls, psyche and will power to come back and not only dominate the person who knocked him out but destroy all the other misfits that came his way. It's obvious that Jones, Tyson, Delahoya do not have the balls to redeem themselves after getting an ass whipping.
They say Lewis dropped the WBA and IBF belts because there was more money and fan interest in other fights. Yet Lewis retired rather than rematch Vitali for a boat load of money and tremendous fan interest.
It doesn't take a psychiatrist to figure this one out.
Are you fooled?
u hate lewis
we hate you
only if u know what kinds of talents he hadd
he would DESTROY a prime vitali
and he would destroy u
who is we, is that u and lewis? or are u trying to say all of england hates me? and no a prime lewis wouldnt have destoryed vitali imo, lewis's chin was only good when he was older LOL a prime lewis woulda got KO'd in round 2 i say getting older saved lewis cause it seemed to have hardened his chin
I respect a man who comes back after being koed to ko his opponent as he did on 2 ocasions(even though he shouldnt have lost to neither).
But i cant respect a man who luckily wins a fight he was truly losin and than tells his opponent that they will have rematch.
And what happened ???
He didnt keep heis word he retired and now he bitches around.
The ringside physician for the Lewis/Klitschko fight was a guest of PANIX promotions at the Golota/Lewis fight (another fix)...I sat right fucking next to him. They told Lewis NOT Vitali first that they were stopping the bout that says it all....
Not sure what it matters who they told first. If they were stopping it, word would eventually get 'round to everyone, I'm sure. Sure, telling Klitchko's corner would've been the right way to start, but in the end, it hardly matters. The cut was so bad that any further damage could've risked permanent injury, and the stoppage was well-timed, if not a bit late.
Both fighters performed admirably, Klitchko becuase it was so utterly unexpected, and Lewis because of his age and lack of conditioning. Lewis won by a TKO stoppage, and deserves the win, just as Klitchko deserved the fans he won over by his performance in that fight, and the chance to fight Sanders for the title that his performance against Lewis, and later Johnson, made possible.
Not sure how others feel about the Lewis/Klitchko fight, but for me, it was one of the greatest heavyweight fights I'd ever had the pleasure of watching live.
hey I gotta give them credit
no one cries like Vitali fans
Ya know, you might want to use a bit less of a generalization there. I'm a Klitchko fan, and I really can't remember ever "crying" about his loss to Lewis, though I'm also a Lewis fan.
Lewis in the HW division was a god period, and would KO Vitali no matter how many times they fought, so deal with it.
Lewis was a big guy, a very talented boxer, and had no small amount of ring smarts (and, unfortunately, a big mouth). Against Klitchko, the fight was over before his conditioning really began to play a large part in the fight, and his reflexes didn't appear to have faded just yet. And considering that the fight was very nearly over for Lewis in round 2, I really don't see how you could even begin to make that call. Had they fought again 6 months later, I'd have given either fighter a 50/50 chance of pulling off the win by KO. Just because Lewis opened a cut that stopped the fight the first time 'round doesn't mean he could do it again. It could've very well have ended with Klitchko getting one more clean shot in during the first or second round and stopping Lewis by KO. Klitchko is ugly in the ring, but nobody can say he's ineffective...far from it.
Lewis is an overrated bum.
Ugh....I'm not even going to type the response I had planned out for this little comment.
NichtGeflechten: I am curious as to your opinion of who would win if Golota fought Vitali? I think Golota poses the biggest threat to Vitali.
Me too :) About the biggest threat, I mean. Only problem is that, as has been mentioned, Golotta's ruined shoulder took his jab away, but since Klitchko tends to answer a jab with a counter-right over the top of it, that actually might help keep Golotta out of trouble. I think it'd be the best matchup in the division right now, and I hope like hell we get to see it at the end of this year.
Vitali quit against Chris Byrd.
I don't care what his injury was, he should have went on & finished the fight.
Tyrell Biggs had his right collarbone broken, by a punch, in the second round of his fight with a big hitter named Jeff Sims.
Tyrell hung tough, took the pain, & overworked his left hand to WIN a decision.
Jeff Fenech beat Marcos Villasana like a drum despite two broken hands & a broken cheekbone. All injuries were sustained early in the fight.
I was never a Lewis fan, but I never questioned his balls when it came to taking on the best guys.
He did not fear Vitali. he just learned he'd have to train much harder to rid the ring of the dorky Ukranian. Lennox no longer had the desire to train as hard as was needed.
A motivated Lewis would have seriously injured Klit.
All of you Klit fans should THANK Lewis for not facing your boy again.
This enables you to thump your fake pride filled chests.
Why Lewis would have only done worse than he did the first time they met. This just in Lewis is old.
I just think that Lennox knew that he would have to put forth his best in order to defeat Vitali soundly the second time around and he was just not willing to go through the serious preparation that it normally takes to win decisively. He took his victory over Vitali and ran into retirement.

I am neither a "nuthugger" or a "hater". I try ro remain unbiased in these discussions. That being said, I don't see how anyone can think the there was a satisfactory ending to the Lewis-Vitali fight. Sure a "W" is a "W", but come on. How many people wanted to see a rematch between Tyson and Ruddock? Everyone did even though Tyson got the win in the first fight. Lewis should have given a rematch. That he didn't speaks volumes.
As for Lewis's career, I think the best description is that the sum is percieved as greater than the parts. Sure Bowe and Tyson ducked him, but he ducked Byrd, Ruiz and Vitali. The roles were simply reversed. Lewis was avoided because there was more risk than reward for fighting him at that time. Once Lewis was the big dog, he avoided the same thing.
He teed off on a mentally disentigrating McCall and couldn't take him out. He suffered two one punch KO's. Lewis was a good fighter, no doubt. Top ten alltime? No way, not a chance. But neither is Vitali at this point.
Couldn't agree more!!! Atleast Vitali wants to prove to be one of the best!!! In the end of his career it all came down to money with Lennox... He even said it himself!!!

Yes...Lewis is definitely the gayest of all time...with Donald "Crackhead" Curry right behind him and Emile Griffith pulling up to the REAR! AH-OOOO-GAH!
I knew there was some funny business going on in that fight because Golota looked like he was fucking high as a kite. This is why I sometime's hate this sport because shit like this never answers the question at hand. If both were normal, no funny business at work, who would defeat the other. Golota dominated Bowe who was of equal value to Lewis as a boxer and Golota got smoked.
Lewis is definitely not a bum but he lost to Mercer, got KO'd by one punch twice, was BADLY outboxed by Bruno until his Hail Mary left, fought a dirty fight against Grant, got knocked down by Akinwande (holding just as much as he was) and ran like a bitch from Vitali to hide behind Corrie Sanders (who he avoided for good reason as Sanders would have smoked him). The proper term is "bitch" not "bum".
You forgot about Briggs punching himself out!!! He was knocking Lewis around the ring like a ragdoll!!!

You are the only other person that seems to agree with me about Golota/Lewis!!! I think it was obvious because Golota almost didn't show up for this fight. (I believe because he was being forced to take a dive) and after the fight he fainted and had to be taken to the hospital. (because he was slipped something just to make sure he los.) Of course I could be wrong but that is my opinion!!! That fight was really strange!!!
