Amir khan (british silver medalist) is turning pro........... according to rumours, he is having talks with frank maloney, this lad is an exciting prospect and will be one to watch for the future.
Where are you ???
AMIR
 Not the Warren issue again TL :D
IMO Frank Warren is the PERFECT promoter for any up and coming fighter. He's a very good match maker, gets his young fighters TV coverage and earn them good money.
of course its the Warren issue again :p He's kept too many fighters under his apron, for too many years! And I am SO NOT the only person that has an issue with him..not even close!
THATS what I heard! That he wouldnt stay an amateur long enough to be in the next olympics (2008) but that Warren was taking him under his wing, or whatever. Am I the only one that would hate to see Warren get his hands on this boy? :(

He is in "talks" with promoters, totally different to turning pro, could be some kind of retainer deal to aid his training facilities and general training in return for securing first offer when he does turn pro, cant see him doing this for at least 2 years, tho whether he stays amatuer til 2008 is open to some doubt and conjecture.

I heard that he was gonna be signed by Warren, but remain an amature for a while?? I dont know the particulars, but that much I did read
i think it would be his biggest mistake............way too young and still a virgin in the sport. unless of course, if he was to box out of germany and face no-hopers for a few years....like the other german fighters do when they enter the pro ranks.
if he was to fight proper opposition at the start, he would be battered!
^ agreed! ur totally right

The thing with Khan is that NOW it the time he is hot. He could wind up having zero recognition by 2008, and he might be missing out on easy paychecks. Maybe its best to wait but it sure as hell is not a easy decision.
He's a lightweight if im not mistaken
I really would not mind if he had chosen to stay in the amatures for another two years, he's just so damn young and will run the risk of burnbing out to soon.
I think if he really wanted to be big he would sign with an American promoter like Arum
I'll be rooting for him
I did see the fight indeed and you are right Neilly(?) overreacted, I forget most of the criticism anymore i just look at the facts, forget conjecture what do they know eh?
I saw an article in the paper the other day saying amhir Khan just wants to be left alone and get on with his life (not likely with the majority of the British Press Ruining celebrities lifes and exalting wanna be celebs that do nothing)
amen mate, too many arseoles in the press including boxing that put peope down all the time.
Did you hear that dickhead commentor (Neilly I think) when Haye got stopped, "his career is in tatters, David hayes career is ruined in tatters" err no its not Jim, He just fought the wrong fight due inexperience and was overmatched against a seasoned old pro, whom he nearly stopped in the second. Its a setback at worst.
For crying out loud these are the same pundits who slate Hatton and Calzaghe for taking easy fights, then run down a decent prospect who takes a chance. You cant have it both ways, what do you want endless stiffs being marched up to take a beating for 5 rounds or a decent 50/50 fight, I know what I would pay to see.
We love people to lose us brits. Strange race that we are.

17 does sem tender age to be boxing at pro level, look at kevin mitchell he is only 19 and they wont match him with anyone dangerous, so he gfets slated in the boxing press for fighting stiffs but at 19 what else is there to do.
Move him up too early and he coudl end up like David Walker, a shot fighter by your mid 20's too slow you get slated.
its catch 22.
He should stay amatuer til he is at least 19.
fingers crossed.
apparently the amature assosication body organisation (or one of them) have said they can fund him 40,000 a year
he is only young, i hope the big money fo the professional circuit doesnt tempt him from the amature world of boxing for at least another 2 years, i think you can safely right off the next olympics though
what you mean he signs witha certain promoter amnd makes 43 defences of he WBU lightweight crown in front of his home fans in bolton.
shame :D
i just hope that if he does turn pro then its for the right reasons, not for the money, i wouldnt want to see a talent ruined if he jumped in to early, all to line promoters pockets

I think 4 years is a long time to wait, 2 years sounds about right. I hadn't heard anything so i was just wondering, now is definatly too early but i can believe that there will be alot of promoters wanting him in their camps.
