I've still gotta find an official trainer and a gym that's not expensive. I've worked with a couple people but I don't have anyone to train me as my coach.
My main goal is to come out of a fight with at least 1 million in my pocket after I pay the people that work with me.If not a million, 125 thous. will work.....yeah....
Exactly, I just want a story tell when im older.
I am older, 54, started training 3yrs ago, and I'm just looking to test myself in an amateur match against another senior, 35 and older, novice at middleweight.
my goal is to be a boxer for 10 years, and during those 10 years i want to be the heavyweight champion of the world, have a hard punches that knockout just about anyone, be fast in ring, like muhammad ali, and when i retire i want to be remembered always as great boxer, like muhammad ali.
One step at a time is the key. In my first fight i was in real good shape but i was frozen. I got hit with a whole lot of punches that should have missed. Then i realized he could not really hurt me and i knocked him out. Now, i am looking foward to the Golden Gloves. ;)
I've been doing this just over a month and I hope to get to the Pros. But I'm not unrealistic. I'll take every step as it comes and train damn hard, six days a week. I'm training at Gleason's My immediate goal is to learn how to slip punches. After I get better at that I want to have my first amatuer fight. Hopefully by next year I can be in the Golden Gloves and win.
To find a decent trainer and win atleast one tournament and get a trophy or a medal and test my weaknesses and hopefully improve upon them and go from their....Just basically to get a learning experience out of it all.
The same. I'm not really after a career.
to turn pro and do well.
Arent they using 10 oz gloves in the pros, cos i remember hearing complaints about heavys only using the same 10 oz weight gloves as everyone else.
It varies for each division I believe.

to anyone thinking about becoming a pro fighter I say this just as Greg Rice, one of my trainers used to say. Stay in school. Fighting in the amatuers is fun. If you happen to win a state title than good, if you win a national then you might consider turning pro. There are guys out there that only had a handfull of amatuer fights and went on to do good things in the professionals but it is rare. More times than not they end up just becoming the opponent, a punching bag for $1500. James Toney and I fought out of the same amatuer club and then later the same pro stable, he might have had 10 amatuer fights that i know of. It is possible to do good but you must consider the risks of professional boxing. Its not what you might gain but more of what you might lose. Ones mental capacity is ones world. In the amatuers that world stays for the most part intact. 10-12 oz amatuer gloves hurt but dont do much damage. In the pros you will be warring with highly trained fighters with 6-8oz gloves and no head gear. You are given only one mind to live this life with, consider that before considering becoming a professional........Rockin'
Props to you, Now thats putting it into perspective in that best way possible.
My goal is to be the biggest Pud that ever lived and get knocked out in every fight. Then, i'll get to challenge someone awesome and suprise him with a KO punch. Yeah...that's it!
Going pro and becomming world champion, 100% sure, that's what i want. I know it's very difficult but as long as it is not immposible im sure that if i want it bad enough, i can get it. And that's my goal.
isnt he the guy from rocky 1 in the opening scene?
Yup and he was one of the classiest club fighters ever as well...think about it he gave Rock won hell of a fight and busted him up pretty bad in the process...Rock holds wins over Apollo Creed, Ivan Drago, Clubber Lang and a street fight win against Tommy.
Spider's promoter should be shot, he had a guy with talent and he let it slip away!
