After the way B-Hop looked in his last fight (problems with movement, speed, and jabs) I really give J. Taylor a chance at knocking Hopkins off his throne right now. I know Taylor hasn't been tested but I still give him a very good chance. Hopkins is begining to look his age and if were he to get in the square circle with Tarver or Jones he would DEFINITELY get executed.
he won cuz all the judges and dumb fans see is the fast long fashy punches of taylor that look so devistating.. but real fight fans kno its the short punches which can kill u
Rewatching the second again, I thought it was close, but I still scored it 115-113 for Hopkins. I compared my scorecards, and some were different, but I just don't see how he won.
Bah this fight still pisses me off. I haven't seen the first one, but Hopkins got robbed in the second one. He probably got robbed in the first too.
I think Hopkins was robbed in the first, and lost the second. Taylor's the Champ now so I respect him, but I still don't think he did enough to take Hop's belt in their first fight. A draw at the very best for Taylor but certainly not a win either. A lot of people forget that when you fight the Champion it's up to you to convincingly take his belt and IMO Taylor did the bare minimum.

Oh yeah, Hopkins got executed by Tarver alright. :lol1:
Man you have a rally bad track record. Hopkins dominated Tarver. Another bad pick.
Dude, this was eons ago (2004)! Nobody can pick 100%, NOBODY. Sure I'm bound to get some wrong, but what about the ones I've got right?
Cotto - Judah
Mayweather - DLH
Marquez - Barrera
Calderon - Cazares
Torres - Arnautis
Malignaggi - N'Dou
Vazquez - Marquez I and II
Mosley - Vargas
Valero - Mosquera
And the list goes on and on. Post who you really are (I have an idea) and we can debate boxing knowledge like men, not when you're hiding behind a new name on this board. Punk!
I'm going to go smoke a Winston.
I don't think Taylor would give Bernard that much trouble. He's not much of a mover and I don't think he is that much quicker than Hopkins. Oscar gave Hopkins some trouble with his speed but not much. Bernard was still able to get to Delahoya. Bernard also has a very good jab when he gets it really going plus Hopkins is getting old but he is still far more experienced than Taylor. Besides Taylor always talks about fighting anybody but surely he should know he isn't ready for Bernard.
I agree he isn't ready yet. If he beat Eastman convincingly then i would say he was ready although Eastman is one of the best middleweights out their but even he is a few levels below Bernard skills wise in my opinion.

Cheers bruv, give me a pm & let me know what you have.
Ok thats no problem at all, i have downloaded some cool stuff recently too and i can transfer it on to video from my computer. Thats how i got these James Toney fights. They are all very good quality, i will PM you what i have downloaded then you can pick what you want.
Hey Barryboy do you want me to make you a James Toney tape? I have quite a few of his fights now, i admire his style alot. I'll make sure i do it for you this time if you do.

I only read about the Griffin fights but it seems both were quite close especially the 2nd one, Toney v Hopkins? can't pick it i'm afraid :D
I think if Hopkins was to fight Jones again it would be at a catchweight, because both guys are known to be difficult in negotiations and wouldn't want to give any advantage to the other, i'd go for Jones as well if he's like his old self.

If Jones tares through Glen Johnson like I say he will, who wins a fight between Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins at light heavy-- Even though Hopkins is on top of the boxing world right now, I would go with Roy.
I'll wait until i see Roy fight this saturday before i say who would win just incase. :D

Hopkins v Toney that would have been a classic, too bad
It'd be interesting to see a Jones/Hopkins rematch after all these years, a lot has went on since then for both guys, the Johnson fight this week should give us an indication where Jones' head is at.
I think we will see Roy fully recharged. Hopefully Tarver did him a favour and brought back his motivation when he got beat by him. As for the Toney-Hopkins now you are talking my language, that would have been an amazing fight to see. Both fighters are are very aggressive and the style matchup would have been interesting too. I give Bernard the edge in speed but i'd give Toney the edge in power. He can punch from all angles but yet again if Bernard got him on the inside he may be able to make him pay. :D That fight sounds amazing. (By the way i was refereing to a middleweight Toney in that rant i just had) I watched his fight against Roy the other day, Roy was something else back then. I watched Toneys return bout against Montell Griffin too, i didn't know the result and i was shocked. I scored Toney winning that fight and the judges gave Montell the decision. Toney wasn't too upset though because that was his first fight a light-heavyweight.
