Mexican legend Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. is very excited about the possibility of a welterweight unification between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

There are talks taking place between the two fighters for May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He doubts the match will be made for May, and sees the two fighters potentially trading punches in September on Mexican Independence Day weekend.

He wants the fight to happen, stating the super-fight pay-per-view will be watched by fans from every corner of the world. Besides the fighters, their respective television networks, Showtime [Mayweather] and HBO [Pacquiao], are also negotiating.

"The fight is meant to be done. Unfortunately, there has been no fight. They need to do it for the benefit of fans around the world. However, it is a fight that eventually has to happen because Mayweather is being pressed hard by the fans and he's being pressed by the television network. Either way, they need to reach an agreement," said Chavez Sr.
