Danny Garcia, whose resume is a who’s who of modern boxing, will open a new chapter in his left when he promotes his first event in Atlantic City on June 15.
Garcia, who is still perennially in the frame to face WBA middleweight champion Erislandy Lara, but who last fought in July 2022 (defeating Jose Benavidez), is 37-3 (21 KOs) and the 36-year-old Philadelphia has boxed the likes of Amir Khan, Errol Spence, Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman, Paulie Malignaggi, Lucas Matthysse, Zab Judah, Erik Morales, Kendall Holt, and many others.
But, in June, Garcia tries his hand at impressing outside the ropes and he will leave the fighting to the others.
“I’m honored to launch Swift Promotions on Saturday, June 15 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey,” said Garcia. “The venue has been home to many historic fights and we’re thrilled to promote our first show there.”
“I’ve wanted to start promoting for a couple of years and this is a great opportunity to showcase the top young talent in the Philadelphia area in addition to supporting the young ‘Boricua’ prospects.”
Fighting in the eight-round main event, popular undefeated heavyweight Sonny ‘The Bronco’ Conto, (12-0, 9 KOs), battles Quintin Sumpter, (7-2, 4 KOs), of Pittsfield, MA. The hard-hitting Conto kicks off his 2024 campaign following a six-round shutout decision over Detrailous Webster on November 10, 2023. A winner of two of his last three, Sumpter hits the ring after a unanimous victory over Zach Calmus on March 23, 2024.
In a special feature attraction, international amateur standout Johnny “Different Breed” Rivera V of Philadelphia will make his highly-anticipated professional debut in a six-round super lightweight bout. The 19-time national amateur champion, a veteran of 290 fights, will garner a wealth of attention as he moves up the paid ranks. He is the first boxer to sign an exclusive promotional contract with Swift Promotions.
Top super bantamweight prospect Miguel Roman, (4-0, 1 KO), of Philadelphia looks to stay perfect in a scheduled four rounder. Fighting again at Boardwalk Hall, the all-action attraction hits the ring following a third-round stoppage of Hector Becerra.
Highly regarded female newcomer Florencia Pajares Brito of Las Vegas, NV and Uruguay will make her professional debut in a four round super bantamweight bout
Undefeated cruiserweight prospect Stanley Johnson, (3-0, 2 KOs), of Houston, TX will battle Raphael Carolina, (2-4-2, 1 KO), of Wendell, North Carolina. Johnson returns to action off a first-round knockout of Isaac Gleason on January 20, 2024.
Additional Philadelphia area-based fighters on the card include super welterweight William Briscoe, (3-1-1), middleweight Jason Moreno, (1-0, 1 KO) and the debut of featherweight Aanjhure Williams.
