Anabel Ortiz made her seventh successful defense of his WBA world strawweight title by winning via TKO in the eighth round over Jolene Blackshear, when referee Rafael Ramos stopped the action in the main event at the Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana and the show was transmitted by Azteca 7, the House of Boxing.
Everything is ready for this Saturday at the Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana starring part of the new generation with Zanfer boxrers Carlos Ocampo, Anabel Ortiz and Jose Uzcategui with television transmission handled by Azteca 7, La Casa del Boxing.
Jose Cayetano picked up his second straight win, though had to ride out a few rough moments as well as bizarre scoring a majority decision over Roberto Pucheta over 10 rounds. Scores were 96-96 even, overruled by tallies of 97-92 and 96-93 in favor of Cayetano (19-4, 9KOs), who is best known for his being matched (in a losing effort) with Leo Santa Cruz on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather's historic win over Manny Pacquiao last May.
In the televised opener, lightweight Uriel Perez (7-1, 6 KO) of Queretaro, Mexico, scored two knockdowns en route to a fifth round stoppage of Miguel Angel Bautista (5-3-2, 0 KO) of San Juan Zitlaltepec, Mexico. The referee was Juan Jose Moreno. Perez controlled the action from the outset with Bautista switching between circling away and occasional pressure. Perez dropped him in the fourth and finished matters in the fifth with a blistering right. Bautista beat the count but was waved off, deemed unfit to continue. The official time of the stoppage was not announced.
