Andrew Moloney Discusses Pedro Guevara Replacing Carlos Cuadras as Opponent

Andrew Moloney is now scheduled to face Pedro Guevara for a vacant interim junior bantamweight title on May 12 at RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia, Top Rank announced on Wednesday.

Carlos Cuadras is right back in the title mix. The former WBC junior bantamweight titlist claimed an interim version of the belt with a hard-fought, twelve-round split decision win over Pedro Guevara. The battle of prior beltholders from Mexico saw Cuadras score two knockdowns to earn the nod by scores of 116-110 and 115-111 to overrule a 115-111 card for Guevara to prevail at the Friday evening in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Former world champion Carlos Cuadras put an end to a year of inactivity, and with effective and aggressive boxing, defeated Lamberto Macías from Sinaloa by wide unanimous decision in the main event of the "Box in Paradise" show presented by Bxstrs in La Huerta, Jalisco.

By Cliff Rold - 2022 started with different plans. At the start of the year, we were headed toward two more chapters of the four-way, ten-year saga that has been at the center of a golden era at Jr. bantamweight. Carlos Cuadras-Srisaket Sor Rungvisai II and then Juan Francisco Estrada-Roman Gonzalez III were all set. It seemed inevitable we’d see both those fights result in at least one more clash between the four before the year was over.

Keith Thurman is back. No matter what happens from here, the once-unified welterweight titlist made his way back to the ring after more than two years away and while fighting in only one calendar year since 2017. Thurman returned doing what he’s done all but once in his career.
