Carlos Cuadras and Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez began the week expecting to face separate opponents in different weight classes. A reshuffling of the deck has them facing each other in what now serves as the third announced event for the first stateside-based DAZN show of 2022. Both boxers made weight for their vacant WBC junior bantamweight title fight Saturday evening at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Jesse Rodriguez has long envisioned winning major titles in at least three separate weight divisions. The only thing that has now changed is the order in which he will claim them, should he prevail in a short notice assignment versus Carlos Cuadras for the vacant WBC junior bantamweight champion.

Carlos Cuadras didn’t have the luxury of enjoying his first full day in Phoenix ahead of his upcoming fight this weekend. Instead, he had to cram for his next opponent, unbeaten late replacement Jesse Rodriguez.

As BoxingScene.com recently reported, Jesse Rodriguez will fight for his first world title as he steps up to take on Carlos Cuadras for the vacant WBC world super flyweight title at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday night (February 5), live worldwide on DAZN.

Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez’s quest to step up in class will include a considerable leap in weight. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that San Antonio’s Rodriguez will step in as a late replacement to face Carlos Cuadras for the vacant WBC junior bantamweight titlist this Saturday on DAZN from Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The 22-year-old southpaw accepted the fight on short notice after former lineal and two-time WBC titlist Srisaket Sor Rungvisai was forced to withdraw due to non-Covid related illness.

By Cliff Rold - After multiple delays in making the fight, and then additional delays for COVID, this week the rubber match between Jr. bantamweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada and Roman Gonzalez fell apart one last time. Estrada is sick.

Thai slugger Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (50-5-1 43 KOs) and Mexico's Carlos Cuadras (39-4-1 27 KOs) will rekindle their rivalry with the vacant WBC super flyweight belt at stake at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday February 5th, live on DAZN.
