Jose 'Chepo' Reynoso, manager of WBC middleweight world champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs), says a fight with Manny Pacquiao would certainly be interesting to them, but their full focus at the moment is on Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs).
Canelo-Khan takes place on May 7th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao will return on Saturday night, when he faces Timothy Bradley in a trilogy bout from the MGM Grand.
In a few recent interviews, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank said he was confident that his fighter is capable of facing Canelo at a catch-weight of 155-pounds - and winning.
Pacquiao has never fought beyond a contract weight of 150-pounds, when he moved up in weight to batter Antonio Margarito for the vacant WBC junior middleweight championship in 2010. Canelo's last four fights have taken place at 155, and his fight with Khan will take place at that weight as well.
Even the idea of that fight would depend on whether or not Pacquiao would be willing to continue his career. He plans to retire after Saturday's fight with Bradley and then focus his energy on a political career in the Philippines.
"Obviously we would be interested in a big fight like that with Pacquiao. He's been one of the best fighters of recent times, and it would be a big fight, but as always we will not disrespect Amir Khan by [looking to the future with Pacquiao]. Our first priority is Amir Khan and that's the fighter we are preparing for," said Chepo to ESPN Deportes.
