Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs) says there is no room to suffer another defeat. The 25-year-old fighter will challenger WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
The last time Canelo stepped up for a major fight was two years ago against Floyd Mayweather Jr., who easily won a twelve round decision at the MGM Grand.
Canelo is training very hard and prepared to come out with a win that would make him shoot up in superstar value.
A victory would also set him up to face the winner of next Saturday's fight between WBA/IBO champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin and IBF champion David Lemieux.
Cotto recently said Canelo "looked like a rookie" when he lost to Mayweather. Canelo is choosing to stay quiet and plans to reply in the ring.
"My mentality is that of a winner and this time it's the same thing. I'm prepared to win and I go up to the ring to get it done. There is no room for setbacks. At no time has my mind dwelled on that defeat because I know we're back, it is my moment and you have to keep a winning mentality. I'm prepared to wining and I will do so in November," said Canelo to Fox Deportes.
"I have been characterized for keeping silent before my fights. I am of those boxers who respects his opponents inside the ring. When the real time comes and I'm face to face with him in the ring, those considerations will be set aside. We conducted a thorough analysis in order to impose our strategy, but if the pace of the fight takes a different turn, we are ready to solve any of those possibilities."
