Undisputed super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has rejected the possibility of facing Terence Crawford at a catchweight.

Last month, Crawford stopped Errol Spence to become the undisputed world champion at welterweight.

On September 30 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Canelo will defend his crown against the undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo, who moves up in weight by two full divisions.

In a recent interview, Crawford expressed interest in facing Canelo at a catchweight of 160 or 158.

However, Canelo indicates that there is no possibility that he'll drop down to those weight classes. And he feels Crawford is way too small to face him at 168.

"He's a great fighter, he deserves to be in the top two… (but) it's hard for me to make other weights. Like he said, if he beat Gervonta Davis, nobody is going to appreciate that. They're going to say: 'too small, too small.' And I think it's the same position for me," Canelo explained to The Daily Mail.

Crawford will be a very interested party in Canelo's upcoming fight - because the Omaha native is eager to move up in weight to challenge Charlo.

Canelo, despite having the edge in weight, is taking the upcoming fight with Charlo very seriously.

He was initially tabbed to face Jermell's twin brother, WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo, but Jermall was unable to get physically ready in time.

Once Jermall was officially out of the running, Jermell was more than willing to accept the challenge.

Canelo expects a complicated fight.

"It's a good fight, it's been talked about since a long time ago, and now I'm in PBC (Premier Boxing Champions) I think it's a good fight for the fans," Canelo said.

"I just like fighting, I like boxing and I like what I'm doing right now – making history."
