According to Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, he has no problem with facing Gennadiy Golovkin in a trilogy fight.

Canelo and Golovkin fought to a controversial twelve round split draw in September of 2017 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Both boxers were in action over the weekend - with the hope being that a third fight can be made next year.

On Friday night at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida, Golovkin retained the IBF, IBO middleweight titles with a one-sided stoppage of mandatory challenger Kamil Szeremeta.

And then on Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio in Texas, Canelo became a four division world champion when he dominated undefeated Callum Smith to capture the WBC, WBA super middleweight titles.

Streaming service DAZN had hoped to make the Canelo vs. Golovkin trilogy for September. That scenario took a major hit due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Could it finally happen in 2021?

Canelo is ready to face Golovkin and anyone else.

"I don't run from nobody. I just showed that I fought against the best," Canelo told DAZN.

"Of course, if he is going to take that fight, I'll take it. But I showed the world that I fight against the best."

Canelo will first have to satisfy a WBC mandatory obligation to Avni Yildirim - unless Canelo intends to vacate his new belt.

Before Canelo-Smith was finalized, Yildirim was in line for a mandatory shot at the WBC title.

The sanctioning body worked out an agreement between the involved parties - and that agreement allowed Canelo and Smith to collide for the vacant WBC belt. As part of that deal, the winner would have to make a mandatory defense against Yildirim in 90 days.
